Pick Your Team Warriors v Sharks - Round 1, 2024 PICK YOUR TEAM

I’ve settled on the ‘said’ 13 for a number of weeks. Like others - debating over 2 bench spots. Walker and Niukore are locked in. I would go with Lussick - we often needed a hooker to spell Egan and with the versatility of Walker, Niukore, Barnett and Capewell… added with the minutes on the field we want with our middles - AFB, Tohu, Barnett, Walker, Niukore - then we don’t want to or need to have three middle players on the bench - Niukore will be middle and edge. Therefore we can have Walker and Lussick. CHT will come into contention in a few weeks for possibly Lussick depending how each go.

So I think ALe will be the best extra middle… however, Webby may give Jazz the first chance.

Walker / Niukore / Lussick / Jazz
- Ale waiting for his opportunity next up.
- Bunty will join the 17 if AFB, Barnett or Niukore are out.

I did see value in some posts that the Sharks have big middles and we could do with Bunty. However, 为冬天always need to go like for like - It depends on Webby’s tactics - I think we will target their middles and work them over with a fast ruck game = Ale or Jazz

I think we still need to give Capewell or Ford a rest during game (mostly for impact). Who would everyone prefer move to second row for a stint? Mitch or Marata?

Are we going to play Tohu at prop for a stint this season? If not, we could consider giving him 20 mins on an edge in order to give Walker 40 mins per game at lock?

Toop’s set the bench mark as a dominant specialist…..WORLD CLASS AT THAT TO BOOT…
(So soooo many moon’s ago!!)

Only now are we getting that same parity but potentially on both sides of the field.
Ali has to ride #17 for the last 20min

Rodge

I would like to see that 1st round as nsw cup is at same ground as top side which isn't the case most weeks, so he can get a game and then take the bench spot for a spell. But it ain't happening.

yes there is just 240 minutes in the middle and tohu and AFB get 120 of those (at least) then the other half shared between 4 players (walker, barnett, niukore and ????) is plenty. If Niukore spends 10-15 minutes on an edge that difference can be made up as well.

Then you can have specialist hooker, halves or backs cover. Which when everyone is fit, is surely hooker cover

Tohu and Walker have definitely both played in "the middle" together, so one of them was technically at prop.
Agree with the other poster that Tohu shouldnt be considered on the edge any longer, especially with Marata and Barnett as options. Marata being first pick to cover the edge

You've got

14.DW middle/lock/halves/Backs cover, in that order
15.MN Middle/Lock/Edge/Centre cover I.t.o
16.JT/BA/TA Middle
17.FL Hooker/Lock

Probably could cover any position on the field.
Have TMM as 18th man if CNK or Metcalf gets Ko'd

Seems everyone has the same starting XIII locked in. Just questions on the bench.

Walker - middle forward rotation
Niukore - middle forward rotation and edge cover.
??? - likely room for one for middle forward. Bunty over Jazz and Ale imo.
Lussick - I think hooker cover is the best option for the last bench spot. May eventually be CHT once he is back up to speed. Lussick takes the spot for now after a good pre season.

I'd also be loathe to put Jazz on the same bench as a half and Walker. I think Jazz and walker should be in competition for one spot and Bunty/Ale in competition for the other.

Nicho Hynes supposedly ready for round 1. Though if the Sharks are looking to get him right for a long season, an away round 1 game in New Zealand would be the time to give him a week off.
Just curious, if we see CHT as utility 14, do the club give him time at DH for the cup side?
