Pick Your Team Warriors v Manly - [Round 2, 2025]

Yep doesn't surprise me. Just somewhat old school where if you played badly the guy behind you would take your spot.
Oh don't get me wrong I want it too. Especially if they were willing to do it to Montoya. He turned out better for it. I'm just saying for webby it might take 2 games, if not then we truly could be spooners this year.

I think the real thing I'll be looking at this game is bench use. No real excuse there if it isn't better imo. Can at least say for selections it's a 2nd chance.

I kind of wanted it the other way round as I have nearly given up on his bench use.

I would hate to see Leka drop out. If we are going to be a force again one day I think he will be your marquee player
Laban is deserving of coming into the team in some capacity I reckon, whether that’s starting or bench. Perhaps a game where experience is needed against a strong sea eagles pack, but the 3 of Laban, Vaimauga and Halasima should be handy in pushing each other

Marata will be ruled out with an injury just before the game
Laban will come in
Kurt capewell will be given another opportunity to redeem himself
I think Marata is carrying an injury / he is not playing anywhere near sixty percent let alone 100 per cent

Laban played really well in that NSW cup game against the Raiders
So did Mgt and Ale

I can’t see AW making more than one change.

I don't wanna say i hope for anyone who plays sport professionally to get an injury as it can really get to ya. But i think it might be better for the warriors if marata forces webby's hands a little bit to put some youth on for the 2nd rowers. Would maybe even elevate some preasure on himself if we bleed points on that side, to be able to say "these are new players building competency" .

Feels like we're going to get flogged by 40 plus. Manly saw that our pack can be shat on and will try to shat on our pack too.

The only reason I would appreciate a 40 plus hiding is to see Luke Brooks having a good day after his recent divorce from the Tigers.

Anyway a different thought. I actually think our pack is ok to fairly ok. But it looks like we aren't spending our energy and fitness correctly. Like over compensating because of not putting the energy first up Into the tackle impact. Anyway anyway

Can you expand on this?

You think we’re tactically absorbing the tackle then putting more effort into the wrestle?
I'll try. It's just top of my head stuff instead of deep analysis with stats. But here goes:

Example 1. Fish

Watched golden round last year and Sheesh he could get a quick play the ball.

Watched round 1. Sheesh it took him ages to get off his back and up to play the ball.

Opinion = Has it been coached and game planned out of him? Not sold on this yet.

Did we operate too individually as a pack? I lean more that way.

Example 2.

Using the obvious example of success. Penrith.

They basically have a text book approach and follow it successfully. Which we lack due to missing the important "connections" that we heard CNK talk about.

The basic idea I think we lack is turning up on every play of the entire game. It will tire and exhaust is but that is what's required in my opinion to create the pressure on which our low to mid tier halves can dissect opposition teams.

Not really convinced at my own argument after all of that hahaha

I will watch the tackle with renewed interest in the weekend!

If there are any changes, then I think I'd like to see Jacob Laban come in for Marata Niukore.

Jacob killed it in NSW Cup and Marata was killed by the Raiders in Vegas. Both are almost identical in height and weight. One is on the way up and the other doesn't know whether he is coming or going.

I don't think anyone would criticise this move.

In terms of the halves, CHT would remain especially this week as he will have Haumole Olakau'atu running his way. If there is anyone who wouldn't shy away from this challenge, then it would be CHT.

I think you would likely punt Jackson Ford as well and replace with Bunty or Tom Ale. To hell with the 80 minute motor - I think we need as much punch as we can get against the very big and aggressive Manly forwards.
