Pick Your Team Warriors v Manly - [Round 2, 2025]

I understand why some people say we are in a rebuild. We did lose a lot of experience but when in a rebuild why we you play 2 of the most promising you forwards after the 50th minute. That is not what you do in a rebuild. You also do not play the same style of play from 2 years ago when you had a half in near career best form and was given a forward platform that was easier top 4. We need to look at who we have and evolve. That is why you have a preseason to get the reps in.

We lost a fuckton of talent, and are currently in the process of blooding in younger players.
Metcalf is only 26 - 26 games,
CHT is 25 - 72 games,
Egan is 27 - 130 games,
Clark is 27 - 96 games,
Tuaupiki is 25 - 12 games,
Leiataua is 22 - 7 games,
Vaimauga is 20 - 8 games,
Halasima is 19 - 5 games,
Laban is 20 - 7 games,
Pompey is 26 - 95 games.

I think the covid years effected who got through the pipeline as we do not have 23-24 yearolds that are any good. And with how old the players last year and some this year got, there pathways where all over the place. It takes time to fix these things. But i think the above people are who webby will likely be building aorund, as they will likely be around for another 5 years.

This is not to say that we should not be injected in some more young guys (prefreably more mins over anything else), but what im trying to say is giving 15 nrl games to metcalf, Tuaupiki, Leiataua, Vaimauga. Halasima and Laban is going to be massive. And i'd say is a rebuild.
Don’t think Webby sees it as a rebuild year.
didn’t see many youngsters in the trials at all. Also in our round 1 team we only had 3 players under the age of 25 and 8 players 29 and over.

As i said. Young does not equal rebuild. Inexprence IMO does. Metcalf and Tuaupiki to you may not fit the mold of rebuild but both have played less then a season's worth of games before the start of the season.

I think a valid argument is about mins being played by the younger players tho, as giving Vaimauga 8 mins is a bit shit. But if rumors are anything to go by then it is for stupid but not non-rebuild reasons.

Regardless of when our bench enters and whether webby likes to admit it, we are in a rebuild.

Whichever way you or him look at it the rebuilding years are here!
Imo it's exciting the whole management have also declared they're promoting from within in terms of coaches and players too.
Are they tho? We already had 3 players ready and capable of filling a wing or centre spot In nsw cup, Kali, Amituanai and Moi-Moi and we go and get Harper…

Good point but Harpo at least has 1st grade experience, who would you rather ran out against Melbourne, Moi-Moi and Kali or Harper and Kosi? I'd go for the young guns personally but I'm impatient for the rebuild to start happening, if we're going to get slaughtered by 60 maybe it's better if Harper cops the pitchforks this year.

I have a feeling that we have the least experience there, even at a NSW league level. So we signed anyone who had some, it's only one year so I don't see him blocking anyone.

To that point. I think you will damage our pathways if you just shove unready players into first grade. Especially if it's against strong squads. Confidence is something we need, and that would stomp it out of em

Been watching Harper ever since he first started playing for Manly. Reckon he has some footy skills, but is terribly slow - which deficiency has stopped his career. I think his playing history in the NRL/NSW Cup has been Canterbury, Manly, Parra, Melbourne. Can't imagine why the Warriors have now picked him up - maybe he has signed for minimum wage and is depth for the NSW Cup side??

Saab is a right winger. He is a much improved all round player with outstanding pace and whoever marks him will need to be adequately quick and proficient in wing play.
Better be Roger then, I wish him well. Chanel won't throw any risky intercepts to Saab after studying their last game, so I don't know how he's going to get any ball.
