He owes us a few dropped balls after all the years we persevered with him.I love Jazz but he’s already started talking shit. I hope we pump them
Watch DCE and Turbo closely. They like to play on the blind side to set up Saab.Running one off the ruck will result in a loss. The only possibility of our lighter pack winning the important facets of metres, ruck speed and tackle dominance is to be:
1. Organised. If suggestions of lack of fitness are accurate really is no hiding it on this stage. So utilise the level of fitness available hyper efficiently. Know the fastest way forward. And that is not wrestling bigger packs. It is the adage of promoting the ball. Ball movement beats man movement.
2. That means runners. Never let Fish, Barney or our koros run one out. Run in numbers to unlock the ability to make a late pass at the line by our forwards. Or a bit of Addin and Ale late footwork. Therefore don't let Walker be the first sub or the only first sub. Leka on the field at 20-25 minutes gives us the timing and the speed and youthful vigour to move their big pack around.
3. Cue the skillset of Egan in the middle. Egan shall run, dummy and provide silky smooth passes on the back of it.
4. Cue the Metcalf, Tuaupiki and Roger cohort running lines and angles to further tire out the massive big boys and Jazz.
5. That's what I reckon
6. What say you?
Yes he dropped a few in his "short time" with us. He won't be dropping too many from his dummy half roleHe owes us a few dropped balls after all the years we persevered with him.
Like you, I have supported the Warriors from their beginning. However, I was not inspired by their performance in Vegas and only hope that the bright lights were a distraction. I will remain loyal to the team but have decided to select a second team if they continue to disappoint us fansThe above part of your post is the most worrying thing to me.
I'm a day one fan, but I can tell already I'm going to struggle to stay engaged this season on the signs of the Vegas game. This is because between the conservative approach and a woefully pedestrian squad we are just going to be painful to watch. I feel the best we can hope for is a series of 50/50 games we win to scrape into the 8, rather than the close losses we had last year. It will take an absolutely stellar season from Metcalf for us to do anything, and that is a longshot and a half, especially if he isn't given parity to work with.
The only exciting thing for me is the young forwards that get 10 minutes a game when the result is decided. Webby will probably build their minutes, but things look ugly right about now. Webby's bench use has not adapted in a very long time, we were banging on about it in the early rounds of last year. I'm not sure the willingness to adapt it is there tbh.
I can't believe how much things have changed in 14 months.
With a poor roster you need to shake things up tactically to compete.
Agree with everything, logically speaking we don't have the cattle to win against bigger bodied teams so need to recruit 2 or more forwards, don't worry whanau, look what happened with the kiwis, madge came along and then look at what we did...I think all we need is the right player to come along and bob's your uncle, cheer up, can't wait for Friday night - Warriors all the way!Like you, I have supported the Warriors from their beginning. But he plays better at 6 than TMM does. And has Boyd ever played 6?Very surprised CHT is still starting. Not a premier 6 IMO.
Would rather see TMM or even Boyd.
When are we likely to see Healey in the 17 ?
Don't worry, He'll get tough like he does and Erin will give him a hidingIt's going to be painful watching him celebrate our misery and dance on our graves, but I can't hate him, hope they win the comp.
Turbo loves to run massive sweep plays to both sides.Watch DCE and Turbo closely. They like to play on the blind side to set up Saab.
I expect It to be close! We favourites against Roosters, Just hope It doesn't rain!Manly by 30+
I'm already starting to lose interest after one game.
He played 6 like a 7 last year and kicked 770m His record is 830m 2 years ago! So he can kick! But he plays better at 6 than TMM does. And has Boyd ever played 6?
If I know anything about this team it's that they will all drag us right back in, only for failure to be right around the corner againManly by 30+

I didn’t say he would be a great coach and was being very diplomatic. What do you see in him that would make him a good coach?
Instinctive for most of his career, learnt a bit of game management but not enough. More a joker than a serious bloke. Emotional and prone to a sulk. Rumors of not being the best trainer.
I like him but can't see him being a great coach. Think he should stick to media, he is good at it.
I see CHT sharing the 7 role with Metcalf and potentially dominating longer term.Very surprised CHT is still starting. Not a premier 6 IMO.

He played five-eight, 5 times last year, 3 times three years ago, 6 times four years ago.But he plays better at 6 than TMM does. And has Boyd ever played 6?
Aw mate sadly i think the warriors would have to disband as a club for me to stop supporting them, they've been in much worse spots over the past 30 years.Like you, I have supported the Warriors from their beginning. However, I was not inspired by their performance in Vegas and only hope that the bright lights were a distraction. I will remain loyal to the team but have decided to select a second team if they continue to disappoint us fans
Thats not a bad insight at all.I see CHT sharing the 7 role with Metcalf and potentially dominating longer term.
The coaches have said they are sharing the role and could they be waiting to see who naturally steps up?
For all CHT’s past, he’s getting experienced now and is smart if it all clicks. He’s never actually had a prolonged run in the team to settle and own his spot and perhaps with Metcalf taking the ‘7’ pressure, CHT will quietly make the most of this season and surprise us?
I love Jazz but he’s already started talking shit. I hope we pump them
Realistically, we were poor in most aspects for our first game.
I'm not opposed to giving the players the opportunity to remedy this.
It's a win-win situation for Webby, if we produce a magic victory hes going to be seen as a special coach, whereas if the same shit happens and we get pumped, he can ring in the changes yet still be the good guy where he tried to let the team take accountability and improve on their shit performance.
Think this is why we’re seeing Metcalf given the 7 jersey because they want to build with Metcalf for seasons to come, rather than have TMM there for a few seasons until he retires and have to start the process again. Webster says he sees Metcalf as a 7 and I agree with you that he needs time. To play him in nsw cup to get him up to speed doesn’t work because he needs to be playing with the players he’s going to be playing alongside to familiarise with them and learn their subtleties and where he can provide some impact while guiding the team around. There must also be a real apprehension for him too, because he’s probably a serious injury away from having to give it away. Hard to get a gauge on TMM’s future though?Usually it takes six rounds.
I don't expect any changes to the side till after round six. I think fans tend to forget that these coaches poured over months and months of work and discussion points leading to round one around the game plan and the roster to deliver it.
I would rather the coaches backed their beliefs and stuck with them for six games than be reactive like fans tend to be.
One of our major problems has been a lack of consistency and the coaches and owner know this. Either due to constantly sacking coaches or bad injury runs season after season.
The only way they solve the consistency issue is to give a stable line up at least six games to gel.
I think Webster has taken enough gambles to satisfy me. He has put Metcalf at seven, that is huge (whether I like it or not it is a VERY bold move).
As the chief play maker Metcalf having no experience there, will need to play with the same team for several weeks to help him adapt.
