He's better than most give him credit for, has not had the chance to do it extensively in the top grade yet.

Agreed. We've all seen him put the odd kick in, bur putting the odd kick in to having to strategically impact a match with your boot are 2 different things.

All part of the uncertainties with all our halves tbh, plenty to look out for.

I'd imagine if it were something like Niukore is actually in Labans spot, they would just do that now since Niukore is available

For those that like stats - Try's + Try Assists/Game played is a measure of a half's abilities in my opinion

Metcalf's ratio in 26 games is 0.76 and he is on the improve
Chad Townsend in 262 games is 0.72

According to stats 30 is a decent sample -

I have woken up with a weird idea that Metcalf and TMM could be an NRL standard halves pairing this year IF they can bond well and have personal chemistry. Unlike SJ and TMM last year.

Aye looks like we've got plenty of budget for when some of our boys have a break out year. A lot easier to stick around if it comes with a a bit of a pay bump.

Thats quite interesting actually. We know what Metcalf brings as a running threat, but man how good would it be if we were able to get enough out of his boot (1 or 2 forced drop outs a game, and majority of his long kicking finding the grass), with maybe a little help from Egan at dh that it meant we could pick someone up like Brown.

If we were able to improve on this aspect, and improve our D and fitness even 15-20% from last year I think we'll be sitting in the 8 comfortably by the end of the year

He’s not the organiser people are after but has a kicking game that sees him average 125m per game compared to Metcalf 45m. Tanah Boyd averages 386m per game so surpasses them both easily. TMM averages 161m per game and CHT 173m per game
