Do they, or are you thinking of Kosi? I know Kosi and Ronaldo were getting stuck into each other in our big comeback win over the Sharks last year when DWZ was out injured.
Going back 2021-22.

The Sharks are a tough game.

They are super slick on the edges and showed in the first game we played them that they rip us apart with ease and there is little we can do to counter.

Why they went away from what was working for them I will never know in that encounter but part of the credit of course goes largely to SJ who orchestrated an epic win.

Dunno why people think they are easy beats, they have tough somewhat pedestrian forwards, a predictable and successful grinding style with as I said fluid shifts to their edges which are a real worry.

Hopefully Dallin has one of the those games where he can do no wrong because I think Roger will sort that left edge, the right is the problem for us.

No CNK certianly evens the game up and I have this one at fifty fifty and that is if we play well.

A fast start by the Warriors or even better a settled grinding tight defensive contest will suit us better because we have the hole runners on that left edge to tear them a new one....which is how you win grinding games against grinding teams, you do not win by going around them.

We have traditionally been a team that gets blitzed on the edges for as long as I can remember. Good test first up assuming Nico plays

Kennedy vs Taine is a poor match up for us. I really hope that Taine tackles his little heart out. Don't let us down little man!!!!!
Our hopes are on you. Get a good nights sleep and good nutrition the days before hand.
I am nervous for you but you are up for this. Go Taine !!!
If he's in I'll back him. More importantly he needs to back himself. Webby already backs him so let's see the preseason improvements applied in real time against a real opponent.

I'd go with Hatchet Harry's team.

These first five games are statement games to show that 2023 wasn't one of those weird, out-of-the-box, how the hell did that happen seasons. We need to show that The Warriors Are Long Term Contenders. It's like 2003 when we almost equalled 2002. I actually rate 2003 a better Warriors season because it proved 2002 wasn't a one-off, "you'll be waiting years for another finals campaign after this!" season. We had arrived. Turned to shit after, of course, and there's some stories about it all being more luck than design but that all ruins my point, so let's ignore that!

1 T Tuaupiki
2 D W Zelezniak
3 R Berry
4 R T Sheck
5 M Montoya
6 L Metcalf
7 S Johnson
8 A F Blake
9 W Egan
10 M Barnett
11 J Ford
12 K Capewell
13 T Harris c

14 D Walker
15 M Niukore
16 J Tavaga
17 T Ale

18th F Lussick
To me this is the most impact from our bench.

I would prefer Lussick to the bench rather than Jazz.
Just to give time off to Egan.Long season ahead & he needs some looking after.Otherwise agree.
Just my opinion.

1. Tuapoki
2. DWZ
3. Berry
4. RTS
5. Montoya
6. Metcalf
7. SJ
8. AFB
9. Egan
10. Barnett
11. Ford
12. Capewell
13. Harris

14. Walker
15. Afoa
16. Niukore
17. CHT

I think this is the right 17.

I would really like to see Afoa and Barnett switch but it doesn't seem to be the way they will go.

Seems everyone has the same starting XIII locked in. Just questions on the bench.

Walker - middle forward rotation
Niukore - middle forward rotation and edge cover.
??? - likely room for one for middle forward. Bunty over Jazz and Ale imo.
Lussick - I think hooker cover is the best option for the last bench spot. May eventually be CHT once he is back up to speed. Lussick takes the spot for now after a good pre season.

I'd also be loathe to put Jazz on the same bench as a half and Walker. I think Jazz and walker should be in competition for one spot and Bunty/Ale in competition for the other.

Nicho Hynes supposedly ready for round 1. Though if the Sharks are looking to get him right for a long season, an away round 1 game in New Zealand would be the time to give him a week off.

My guess is that Niukore and Walker are locked in.
One of Ale or Bunty (hopefully my boy Ale)
And then I see the last spot as being either Jazz or Lussick.
I feel Jazz gets the nod as he can play front row too and it's the beginning of the year so Egan should be fresh.
Maybe from Rd 10 we have to seriously consider Lussick as a bench option with slightly longer minutes.

When the blowtorch gets applied to Hynes at halfback he can't handle the pressure against the top teams.

World class 6, but not in that realm against the top halfbacks when it gets tight.

Sharks really need to go to market for a decent 7 so Hynes can play 6.
Absolutely right Hynes is not a 7. Trindall is the more natural 7 out of the two.
