RTS try was for sure a double movement 🤫

Saab lost control over the line 🤐

RTS try was legit, watch it at normal speed.

It looks like a double movement in slow mow because he marginally extends his arm (which is legal because he does not lift the ball and promote it after ground contact). More importantly it is momentum that gets him across the line rather than lifting.

I have more doubts about Egans try, however that was also a legitimate call because on first landing, it is reasonable to assume that the point of the ball touches grass before that arm rotates the ball into its held up final place of rest.

In which case it is reasonable for the Ref to send it up as a try and for the bunker to defer to the original call in the lack of evidence.

I also think that DCE's try was legit, you can see a very thin green line before the touch in goal on that one.

Second week running Egan highest tackle count I think? He was immense and huge to us having success. Must have been some of his highest running metres in a while and need that to create defenders second guessing whether he’ll run and open space for his halves. Their strong showing had a lot to with him. Really impressed with CHT too and is becoming a running threat

Two weeks into a new season

Tell me he’s still doing this in September and we celebrate - he’s not injured

Did Egan knock the ball on at the half way when he scored?

It’s not normal we get these 50/50 calls

He wasn’t sliding and thumps onto the line well short.
Arm/ elbow moved suggesti g double moment. Similar to the broncos one last night where he moved his elbow to score

made no difference to the game but surprised these cheating refs didn’t pull it up

Don’t think still shots are so helpful because it looked like the sliding momentum was the factor for it being called a try

Arm and elbow are allowed to move, like I said, the rule is clear, you are not allowed to lift the ball off the ground and promote it....you will not be able to post any pic of the ball being lifted because it didn't happen.

Can you imagine if the rule was to do with arm movement? how many minutes would be wasted on the bunker ruling "is that too much arm movement? his arm moved an inch? oh hang on that was half an inch?? nah his arm moved coz he was bumped'.....it would be a bloody circus if your interpretation of promoting the ball was applied.

Even if sliding he’s not allowed to move his arm in a scoring motion once like you see in frame 2

You cannot have a rule about a human limb moving while the body is in motion in the act of scoring (even though fans over simplify the rule by looking at arm movement) that would be impossible to rule on in terms of intent. What you can rule on is whether that movement lifts the ball from a grounded position to the in goal.

The Rule is "Promoting the ball" not "Moving the arm".

I am not arguing that Roger was not tempted to promote the ball and that his body 'shrugs' in an arm movement that warrants close scrutiny by the Officials, however he resists the temptation to breach the rule by not following through and *LIFTING THE BALL* and planting it.

You are allowed to look tempted, then change your mind and stay within the rules, it is no different to a player going to pass the ball to a runner that is in front of them, then pull back to avoid a making a blatant forward pass..

The way I see it, we generally seem to get the short end of the stick with calls from the 3rd ref.

Ive seen plenty that looked more like a try only NOT be given by the ref, so I was a little worried about this one (and Waydes one). I agree that RTS momentum was getting him over the line but he also did have a 2nd movement where he lifted up his arm a bit to make sure he got there.

I think the big thing is though, there's no way you can take that try off of us after already giving those first two Manly ones. I think that's the bottom line - if Roger and Wayde score those 2 in the first 20 minutes, or we scored those two that Manly had, imo none of the 4 get called as tries. Far too much doubt for a Wahs player.

It was similar to when we played the Sharks early in 2023 with that epic come back - they called a bs sinbin for a soft high shot from Niukore early in the match, and then later on Finucane did the same thing, so had to bin him as well.

At the end of the day, it's all about consistency for me. They called a few calls that were a bit questionable for Manly as tries, and did the same for us.

It's an absolute killer when our ones get called back for us, but then allow them to stand for the opposing team

After I watched the replay I was happy its a try. Unlike Mariners last night where he is very clearly short with no momentum and promotes the ball so it touches the try line.

That’s fair

That Saab one was dodgy as hell also. I think it kills the enjoyment of the spectacle if they didn’t give it as both were great tries to watch and should be rewarded

I'm absolutely Gutted.

Skysport was terrible in the first half and then nothing in the second half until 5 minutes to go.
Really hard to give any feedback when the quality of the picture was so bad.
The bits that I did see were Egan tearing them apart together with Clark who I have given big wraps on this forum.
Worth noting that the team never dropped its lip when the Ref gave some dreadful decisions.
Never lost faith in Webby or our team.
So it wasnt just my dodgey stream that was playing up😆...
