I am really at a loss with this Dylan Walker leaving announcement. Just weird being three rounds in to the season. He has very much been integral to our attack over the last few years. I don't think he can be replaced easily at all, certainly not with our current roster. I guess TMM to 6 and CHT to 14 makes the most sense at the moment in order to get CHT to fill that 14 role as close as possible to Walker. The concerns I have around that are that TMM has been killing it in cup with a very good organising half and Luke Metcalf isn't that 7 at all. CHT has also been playing very well at 6, probably been carrying that halves pairing if we are being honest. Has he been training as a 14 in the off season? Essentially we would be moving a 6 who has been playing well for another 6 who plays well with an organising half like Boyd and not addressing the two glaring issues we have which are Metcalf isn't that guy (IMO) for 7 and we cant replace Walker easily even if CHT goes there.

My thoughts are that we cant replace Walker's play so AW should keep LM 7 and CHT 6 for at least another 3-5 rounds. That was his plan initially and losing our 14 shouldn't change that.

I'd look at bringing Lussick or Healey on to the bench as the 14 and utilise them for 20minutes to spell Egan and then use them as a hybrid lock/hooker while Egan is back on, to speed up our play.

It's a change in our approach but could end up being a needed one.
That NSW Cup side is so good and It's because the 6 and 7 do a great job! It's great to watch! Every week they look better and better! I hope we resign TMM, He's to good to get rid of.

Doesn't necessarily have to be a carbon copy of Walker to sit on his throne.

He is a prop but there is a game model someone wrote about in here where West's use a 3 prop thingo with one being a prop playing at 13. Adds muscle but not necessarily ball playing skill.
Doesn’t a defensive prop/ lock suit Websters game plan more than a ball player?

Walker and Tohu were defensive rocks so ticked both boxes but if we don’t have someone exceptional on both sides of the ball, won’t we prioritise solid defenders?

I think it does and in the short term we probably see that be the priority, maybe Laban to the bench instead of TMM, there is the wild possibility of Bunty coming in to just be the defensive rock to get subbed on. Altho i think bunty is less likely the Laban and TMM.

In all honesty I think we are in a good spot ( for back ups) cause I cant think of a “realistic” replacement that would disappoint me. Healy, Laban, TMM even Bunty I would be fine with seeing appear on the bench in the team list. Maybe Freddy would be the biggest disappointment if chosen ( just cause there are better options and im not sure he has a future at the warriors now) but I think he would come in and do his job.

SJ was on some podcast talking about how we should attack the Tigers. I think his reasoning was right: own the middle and take Api out of the game by running our forwards at him all game. He is really the head of the snake that is the Tigers spine. They also like to bring on their dynamic reserve hooker in the final parts of each half (mins 20-40 and 60-80), so that's when we should ideally bring Leka and Demetric into the game to counter their energy. Also we need to kick to Turuva's wing every set so that we take him out of play for the subsequent tackles. He's probably responsible for most of the Tiger's post-contact meters.

How many times do we have to see Barnett wasted at 13. Go check his numbers from game 1. He is no longer a back rower. He’s an elite mobile ball playing prop.
We’ve seen him once?
And his role would barely change. I see it as low risk in this game considering the Tigers middles. We can easily out grind them.

May, Pole and Twal vs Tapine, Papalii and Horsbourgh. No comparison.

He played in the back row last year. All it does is weaken the backrow and weaken our prop stocks. He gets run around like Marata does.

It’s not a slight on Barney at all though, you lose mobility with age/injuries/surgeries. But that level of skill he still has makes him an elite prop.

Is Bunty able to pass or does he choose not to? Imagine if he could ball play.
I see him as a running prop. Tuck it under your wing and full throttle through those blokes over there. He'd be no good as a Walker impersonator but as a standard middle he'd be fine

But....he's not even a running prop lol. Has averaged slightly over 50 meters a game the last two years.

He's 29 this year, has played 8 years and hasn't averaged 100m a game any of those years. I think his time has passed.

I'd rather give someone like EIT or Stowers a run. Hell, even Ale!

Interesting possibility. He always struck me as someone who had some skills and as was mentioned earlier is light on his feet. No slug either, didn't he chase and pull down a winger a few years back? Have a feeling he played a lot of 2nd row and maybe 13 in lower grades. Intriguing for sure if it's true.
He played a lot of back row early on in his FG career, but they moulded him into a tackle bot. He showed good offloading ability early on, I reckon he had it in him, but not sure if he can still harness it tbh.

I'm not against any of those blokes.

*Edit. But 29 is prime prop years isn't it?
