I just watched the tries again.

So much quality attack.

That Pompey try was epic.

We are the form team.
Real shame Pompeys greatest individual play was lost largely by virtue of fans tending to dismiss the try because the opposition was the Tigers who in plain dumb Warrior fan speak are a team we should thrash.

You have to laugh, if Ali had of scored that Try the whole NRL would have blown its load.

That was Kevin Iro level Centers play, it was Blackmore McKraken level of beastmode scoring.

Best Warriors Center play in years and years and years. True story that was a beautiful run any NRL player would be proud of.

Imagine if Adam Pompey is a late bloomer and that Try is the moment that unlocks his attacking game....that would be the best sports story ever...lets not forget the only reason Adam Pompey has a contract is that he keeps winning hardest preseason trainer at the Warriors....he is one limited talent all effort anomaly we rarely see...if he were a white boy from Nelson he would have Simon Mannering cult support.

Pisses me off he gets shit around here coz he is the antithesis of the lazy Warrior.

Thought Pompey unleashed his beast mode in that 2023 game vs Brisbane until he jersey pulled 🤣 Then stayed dormant until suddenly stepping like Roger and scoring like Vatuvei. He used to bump players off early in his career so I don't know why he went shy, maybe it's the Webby system? He should always be one of those players that run hard then offload to his winger if it's a 2 on 2

Wait till we start chipping the ball behind Monty for DWZ or Taine 🤣
or catching him out wide when he inevitably decides to jam. Was a great clubman but had some serious defensive deficiencies that are still evident when he plays for the dogs. The titans round 2 game in particular should have Dogs fans worried about what will happen when they come up against sides with more dangerous attacking shape (ie storm, penrith, manly) that will know how to exploit these glaring weaknesses in Monty's game.

Montoya like a few others recently have improved during their time with the Warriors.

I remember when Montoya was signed here. It wasn't greeted with much fanfare. Recruitment is usually a mix of established stars, guys needing a fresh start, fringe first graders. We had already recruited a few names so he was more on the end to round out the squad. I'm pretty sure the Bulldogs didn't see him as much of a loss back then.

Quite a difference in a few years.

It is good for our club compared to the days when players would regress.

Aslo credit should go to Montoya. He came here with a good attitude and put the work in.
The Dog Kennel also made quite a few references about his error-ridden play prior to coming to us. We helped improve him and then let him go back to the Kennel. Will be interesting how he goes against us when we meet. Can we give kudos to our coaching staff?

No joke, when Laban is ready for NRL full time a bomb to him is a real thing. He has amazing hands and light feet.

He is not the only one, there are a few of this junior crop with hands for kicks MGT is another.
I think a place in the 17 against Melbourne would be a masterstroke.

Just cut his hair like Leka and Demetric so nobody knows who the hell is who.

But seriously I think his time has come and would start him over Niukore and bring Niukore off the bench as a Paleaasina type role.

Don't know where to post this but which one of you have been trolling the levels network podcast? Pushed Justin Horo over the edge who had a bit of a rant against us in their latest podcast lol:
To be fair they have a point. Also this is what happens if you put yourself on the internet. You are going to get trolled in the comments section. Now put that across 17 teams.

I don't watch all of their episodes. I do watch a lot it's just a by product of there being so much content now and only so much time.

I do enjoy their show. Mason often raises good points. It is quite a turn around from his younger days with his attitude and also how people thought of him.

They have been covering us quite well. They are right they didn't discuss our game a lot in that episode but Halasima got a section to himself and they have mentioned our exciting group of forwards coming through.

Some random comments about the game on Sunday

  • Tigers got the bounce of the ball literally all night. I don't mean reffing decisions. I really mean the bounce of the ball. A grubber kick that went just far enough that it spooked CHT into not trying to get back into the field of play. Flukey conversions from the side line. Especially Api's.. He miss kicked that and it still went over.
  • How good was Lachlan Galvin. Created two tries. Man Tigers are a really good side in 2025. This was our hardest opponent so far based on the form of the team.
  • We had the better bench and those players got us across the line.
Fantastic entertainment.

Nice to have a bye in the first ten games.

Blocker literally thought Bunty was making all the awesome hit ups and changing the game (it was Demetric)

Glad someone else remembers his edge defence.

I like Mont's and he is playing well for the dogs but he is a serial jammer. Throw some shape up and stack numbers down his edge, 9 times out of 10 he's looking to shut early. 100% can be exploited

It’s a Webster tactic isn’t it? Montoya did it as well.

Can’t blame the players for a team strategy. Honestly, outside backs are in a no win situation sometimes when they trying to cover for defensive issues inside them.
I agree Wiz. But I reckon that's where jamming is most relevant. It's in the same category as an intercept. You have to be able to read the play and adjust in real time correctly and slam the door shut on opposition plays that come your way.

So kind of you are watching both the other team's shapes and moves, counting the numbering and making the quickest decision whether to stay on your man at all costs or compress the end of your defensive line to smash the passer or the catcher. Our guys are going too early. So the long high pass sails past Taine, Roger or anyone in that situation.

I would say its a webster tactic.

From my understanding the logic is that the winger comes for pressure to force a mistake (worked well in both roosters and manly) and the fullback / inside cover is clean up if that pass makes it.

Yup worked well for a bit and they worked out the solution but doing rainbow passes or bypass the link man straight to the winger, I think Charnz ended up as the last line of D by standing shallow to cut off the flying winger?

Speaking of that, his tackle on Taruva was actually match winning, if he stood deep it would have been 2 on 1 and game over
