Pick Your Team Tigers v Warriors - [Round 4, 2025]

I don't want CNK or TMM to go. I think they have a lot of footy left in them, they bleed for the Warriors and help to make the culture of the team what it is. CNK is all heart and will have an excellent year I think. I also think we are about to see the best of TMM. I don't see Cobbo coming here, he will have Aussie teams all over him and he is a little inconsistent however he can be extremely destructive out wide. I would hate to see CNK and TMM leave while we bring in people who are coming for the money and they bleed for the club. That's just my thoughts but perhaps I am being a little sentimental.

We have to have CNK in this team this week, I kind of feel like the try by CHT saved him. He had a couple of errors, and played decent but that effort play to score the try saves him for a few more games I think.

re Leka and Vaimauga time vs the Tigers, I have to trust Webby. At least he seems to be increasing their time. Boy Leka is dangerous, imagine if we get him running lines on the try line and then CNK and Ali out the back, lots of potential attack up our sleeve.

Ale - good enough in my book for another club
Thanks mate interesting
He sponsored a few ex nrl guys from memory. Folau Greg Bird and a couple I have forgotten.
They had pretty good deals

Kinda worried our game plan isn’t sustainable.

Small pack outmuscling and outperforming to fatigue the opposition.

Seems a recipe for increased injury risk - like last year!
We have injected youth into the side with more youth waiting in Laban and Ieremia Toeava. Not sure who else but remember how in your youth you could do stuff that you might not be able to at an older age? I know that question is open to interpretation so have at it.

On injuries - I am happy with the bruising game plan, that’s what Barney tried to do during that Panther-Storm game period, especially we have so many breaks to start the season, we do have 2 mega 9 round stretches later though.

But Webby is playing about 45-55min of Barney, Fish and Clark, and he can build up minutes for Leka and Demetric, and keep Walker and Ford around 30-40min, maybe it’s deliberate for this game plan, and 4 forwards and no hooker on the bench, maybe he will go back to 3 big dudes by mid year to stretch minutes like 2023, I hope not though, maybe for that 2 game stretch between byes or playoffs, but long season we need to manage, probably why our pack is healthy (touch wood) so far

How are people feeling about Marata after the last couple of games? From being there in the flesh I thought he was putting in heaps more effort, but his measured outputs are still miserable.

Cannot be long before Leka takes his spot. Bloke just looks deadly.

He looks like a guy who went from total disinterest to playing for his future. Defo is trying harder.

Bottom line, if he keeps pushing he will bust out and rid himself of the over priced under performance tag. He is good enough to become a top forward before we replace him with anyone.

The tell tale signs will be whether he keeps it up or drops off, if it is the latter then get rid of him off the books at the first juncture.

Warriors have developed a settled lineup with the experienced players goving the lead and platform for the newer, younger players there seems to be a grind/no shortcut mentality.

As we see with RTS injuries are inevitable. At least we know hos replavement is NRL ready and experienced. Whether that be Berry, Kosi or Harper.. form is not an issue although Metcalf was kept quiet. He will learn from that. Take the lesson and move on and up.

I think the knock on CNK on attack is a bit rough. When we were rolling in 2023 he was as dangerous as any fullback. His link play was on point too. Which stemmed from having SJ in peak form.
I can’t expect him to be overly dangerous when our attack this season has been so clunky. Even the best attacking fullbacks struggle when their attack doesn’t click.
TT is coming along well but he has a way to go before he can replicate what CNK offers at this stage.
Anyway

1. CNK
2. TT
3. Berry/Leaitaua
4. Berry/Leaitaua
5. Pompey 🤦‍♂️
6. CHT, wouldn’t mind TMM or Boyd
7. Metcalf
8. JFH
9. Egan
10. Barnett
11. Capewell, not loving his form so would happily have one of our young guns.
12. Niukore
13. Clark

14. Walker
15. Not sure, Ford tries hard but I think this spot could be for another young gun
16. Vaimauga
17. Halasima

CNK had 2 try assists against a pretty solid Roosters defence, I thought the tries on the right edge to Ali resembled some of the plays from 2023 when we basically scored every time we went to that right edge with DWZ. And we're also only in round 3 with new combinations so it's only going to get better. CHT scoring a couple of tries on the left already this season too shows we can score on the left as well. Plus Pompey would of scored if not for the Tedesco try saver getting his nody under him and RTS has looked pretty threatening on that side too, our attack isn't terrible.

It is funny tho, looking at most of the tries we scored in the last 2 games...

Ali from close range x3
Chanel magic chip and chase
Chanel show and go
Roger magic from the sideline
Tauapiki magic try
Metcalf runaway after a dropped ball from Manly

Big elements of luck and individual brilliance. Very little set play or vision from our spine.

Again though, if we compete at 90% and focus on D, with limited errors and penalties we'll be in the contest against most teams this year

The other thing is week have been scoring on both sides of the field. The last few years have been pretty right hand side centric.

It is nice having the set plays. But it is also nice to see where are getting points from playing some football.
