Tigers might be coming into this game a little cocky given all the media coverage this week. That's just fine by us since all the teams we've played recently have been coming off highs and I suspect took us a bit lightly. Sea Eagles and Roosters came off impressive wins and then got brought down to earth by us in a big way. If the tigers make the same mistake, we'll grind their asses into the mud on Sunday.

people forget that this happened last year too. I think they were 2/3 last year and had just smashed the sharkies at Campbelltown in round 3 who were flying at the time. Media was proclaiming a Benji revolution had started. They then got smashed in round 4 by the dolphins and never really recovered. NRL media is looking for any excuse to pump the tigers up as the feel good story for this year. Totally understandable, but they are only setting them up for failure by building up these expectations.
You raise a good point. I'd also raise some caution in our 2024 record.

2 close losses followed by 3 wins and a draw. Then the disaster against the Dragons and the ANZAC Day loss.

We were talked up a lot early in the season last year as well.

I like this year so far is a lot of the other teams are getting the attention. I hope we can quietly keep picking up wins and later in the season everyone looks at the table surprised the Warriors are higher up the table than expected.

I think this reinforces my pt. The media's role in shaping team expectations can have a detrimental long-term impact on the team. Last year for us is case in point: the expectations on us were raised so high after our flogging of south Sydney and the previous year where we made the prelim. In hindsight, those expectations were never fair and ultimately tanked the team. I like how we are going under the radar this time. We always do well when nothing is expected of us (2010, 2018, 2023).

Why wouldn't NRL.com know? My understanding it is the official website of the NRL and owned and operated by the NRL.
Journalists working for them wouldn't necessarily have that info, I don't know if they would have had a heads up from the coaching staff either, as that's only a requirement 24hrs before game time - my guess is as good as their guess in this case is my reckon

I think Cht would be closest we can get to walkers sort of game an would prefer Healey stays in cup getting reps at hooker cause we guna need him soon enough. Dont like moving players around to squeeze others in but Martin in the team will only make us more dangerous. Especially if they moving Ali to the other side. Im also leka to the edge

Main reason I like Clark starting is he looks to set the tone on Defence.
He stiffens the middle next to Fish and Barney at the start of the game.
Your post turned blue (cool feature Moderators) lemme bask in your glow and say that Clark vs Manly and the Roosters was the most effective forward from the kick off.
No mean feet given we were getting beaten up front in both games quite comfortably by our opposition during the all important opening exchanges.

In terms of the eye gauge....Clark has been better than Fish and Barney imo, especially his hard hitting when added to his hard running. I say that having zero back ground on this guy, I have no bias or buy in coz frankly I never heard of him before, even though he is ex Warriors.

True story he is the best forward of 2025 thus far and probably not getting the mentions he deserves because he doesn't have a fancy pedigree.
