That was a B for me. Promising signs, but we played a bit too loose for my liking. To start the year we've been completing at near 90% range. Today we dropped a lot of ball and many of those errors led directly to the tigers 3 tries. That miss by Jackson through the middle for the third try was not acceptable and you could see how pissed JFH was (and rightly so). Nonetheless, we were in control for most of that game and the scoreline did reflect our dominance, especially through the middle. Tigers are just too weak in the forwards to contend for the 8 anytime soon.

Tannah was great. Certainly different from Luke. Doesn't run the ball or pose the same X factor threat. But he makes up for that by giving us a lot more structure in our attack. The number of times we stripped the tigers for numbers and put DWZ in space was amazing. We haven't seen that since 2023 and certainly never under Luke. Luke just doesn't have the long pass that Boyd provides. He's also a better kicker than Luke. Luke would have missed those two kicks across to the side and made the game closer than it should have been.

TT at FB was phenomenal. Provides a different point of attack against a staggered defensive line, even if his defensive work rate is lower than CNK. Might provide some of the X factor in attack we lose without LM. Maybe with Berry out, and Ali suspect with injuries too, we give the TT at 1 and CNK at centre a shot?

love leka, called him on the wing in the pick your team! haha!

Had my doubts but happy Tannah boyd played well. He's prone to some poor play but hopefully he can play simple stuff well, all we need

Taine > cnk. cnk.... put the team first, you go centre. Latrell did it for the bunnies, you can do it for us.

Jackson ford had a bit of a regression.

good win, good points either way. Great defense apart from the lapse in the middle for doehiis second
When we need to re assess and have just lost our starting half fir the season, we needed him to steady the ship.

He could not have done any better for a debut!

Yes you can say there are things he can do better, but we are not a worst team with him leading.

The forwards did a great job though.

Tigers clicked into gear last week, so imo every bit of this game has to go to Adam douhei and the Tigers effort tonight.

Agree with what you say, but with the significant injuries we've had in the last month - Barney, LM and CNK, and to not have Capewah after origin, and to then have a centre go down injured before half time...all things considered, I felt that was a pretty good dig.

We left a few points out there imo.

Also, I feel the ref was pretty shit towards us? Ford's ghost strip in the first few minutes, our challenge being declined, and a few other things seemed to go against us. Especially when it was 22 - 14 I had a few worries they were trying to manufacture a closer game

My main concern coming into the season was the halves. We've had stability there all season as the coaching staff comitted to Metcalf and CHT. We were winning so even with good form from the halves in the Cup side it was unlikely we'd see any changes.

Boyd has bided his time in NSW Cup and made the most of it today. Let's now hope the stability in the halves continues for the rest of the season.

He did well directing the side around the field. Took the ball deep into the line before moving it on. We were always going to look different with a change at halfback.

His goal kicking was also a bonus.

Let's hope he makes the most of it. That will mean we can continue into the semi finals. Also means when Metcalf is back there is another tough debate.

We had so much shape suddenly today with Boyd. He was very solid and definitely activated his inner speed bump 😂 He needs to kick to Leka and Dallin more instead of Roger and Marata. 5/6 only missed the sideline kick lives up to his legend

TMM first touch try assist was funny, that delay pass (chef’s kiss)

Ford played for too long, should be under 55min

Demi’s our x factor in the middle, needs to increase minutes

Berry 3 dally m for try celebration

Clark keeps the middle in check

Marata either a second row specialist or having another one off hot week

Back 3 and CHT were great

TSS career best game?

Vaimauga is having a great season. Started the year giving us some fresh legs off the bench. Get some leg speed late in the first half.

Now we are getting a lot of offloads.

All of the young guys coming through have a lot to like about them. Not just the big plays but a lot of the little things. Like their defence or quick play the balls.

Halasima. THat try at the end. Not many would be able to score that.

I agree with you. Not just with the injuries you mention, but all year we've shown incredible fight when faced with a bad injury situations (especially in the centres). Even last game against Brisbane, with everything going wrong, we really put up a good fight imo. Most other teams probably get blown apart by Brisbane who just decided to be on against us.

I noticed over the bye week that many Aussies are predicting that we will fall apart and drop out of the four entirely. After all the hard work from the first half of the year, I don't think we're giving up our position in the 4 without a fight. Tanah, TT and co will rise to the challenge as others have done.

We've got a good mix of body types coming together in the forwards, Stowers looks like an intimidating sort of dude, comes on like a hitman and makes a difference on D, he's one to watch when his gets his game motor up in next few yrs. Leka's our best wing since Manu, Laban's like a speeding giant octopus who seems to pop up everywhere, must be hard to lock up those tentacles when he's on the charge. Gannon I suppose will add another type of ball playing edge or lock to the mix. One of Erin's best games today, sheer aggression.
