looks like the nrl media narrative on our game is going to be that the tigers were the better team and were robbed by CNK's gamesmanship. Basically that we got lucky. So I really hope we knock off one of Melbourne/Brisbane over the next 2 weeks to prove to the Sydney centric punditry class that we are not a mirage and are indeed the real deal.

To be fair....that's probably the best result for us.

We win AND manage to fly under the radar?

Fricken sweet. Year of the ambush baby

Tigers probably think we played dirty to get the match winning penalty. In my mind, a dirty win is still a win. Sometimes you have to learn to be a bit grubby to win.
Turuva tried the same thing but there was no contact. There was to Charnzes head at least.
What made it worse is Turuva's over dramatic acting was right out of a 70s western when they get shot and roll around for half an hour before dying lol.

I don’t see the issue with the penalty. It was a shoulder to the head, it’s the tacklers responsibility to get low. If we make the argument that charnze fell into his shoulder then the defender can simply not make the tackle - this happens a lot with players falling and the penalty doesn’t get given. But the tigers player decided he wanted to be both high in the tackle and hit a falling player, it’s such a standard penalty.
have to question why did the ref miss the high shot on chanze, (I get that the refs have hard time trying to catch everything), but he caught every other incident prior to this event. so I suppose maybe its in the best interests for the players to be coached when feeling a high shot (even a minor one) to stay down, so then the onus is on the players to put on a performance the old staying down ploy in case the ref missed it. the mystique of rugby league was its brutality, its tackles (which they described as hits - everyone loved that adjective, so different from union), toughness of its players, so it was nothing for a player to wear a high shot and carry on playing. suppose what I'm saying the culture of rugby league is one of toughness and someone staying down after a tackle can be viewed as doing a Hollywood or being a pussy, however if you play to the letter of the law staying down is a legitimate action. this is a long winded way of saying its ok for chanze to do the old Hollywood. in my era of playing nobody ever did this (only soccer ever did it). the only time I've seen this is chanze and dwz holding their jaw indicating an illegal tackle. my take is if you play to the letter of the law is it cheating or is it being bloody clever - chanze doesn't strike me as a cheater (definition gaining an unfair advantage over the opposition, tripping jersey pulling, muscle enhancing drugs etc), so did his actions gain an unfair advantage?

The Tigers fans have every right to be pissed about the pen that cost them the game.

Buuuut

They shoulda had at least 1 player binned so it gives and it takes.

The Wahs did well to not balls up the lead on the end.

What does this season have in store? At this point, no idea. Gonna be a ride everyone.
They have absolutely no right to be pissed. When has a should to the face not been a penalty?

Just watching back a couple of moments, the first Tigers try came shortly after we were hot on attack owning them in the first 10 mins, the call on Niukore falling over after the ptb then JFH getting called not square at marker which let them down our end of the field, then JFH missing the tackle/getting pushed off by Pole and he splits Clark and Capewell who were watching the play happen instead of helping with the tackle. 2nd try came as CHT was caught ball watching and Seyfarth runs straight past him.

We were on top massively after scoring first then being hot on attack again but then just let them back into the game. I think we could of won that a lot more comfortably if we had calmed down a bit and played a bit smarter in the 10-20 min mark. JFH getting caught not square was not ideal and he should be aware Api will always be looking for that sort of thing as he is one of the top hookers.

Lucky to come away with the win but a lot to improve on, thought we looked worse than the last 2 games but guess those were at home and it's still early season, really need to keep staying dialed in for the full 80 mins.

Leka is an absolute beast and props to Ali and TT for contributing to that try, they both pulled in their markers before passing creating the room for him on the outside, great to see him back himself he just lined up the sideline and gunned it, got to be one of our fastest 2nd rowers in the clubs history, we need to get him locked up long term!

Hey I'm not sure where this Sydney centric media talk is coming from. I was watching a Podcast earlier and Buzz Rothfield said they get a run sheet covering everything they are going to talk about and they ensure they talk about every club.

Like all great comedy pieces he actually said it with a straight face.

It's not a lie if you believe it.
