Yes Kosi played awesome,

Some boys played great, all the big names did well but I think Erin Clarke, Bunty Afoa, Demitric, Ford, even Marata all had some big contributions through out the game. Marata wasn't awesome but he provided some starch and I saw one of Hunts runs shut down very well by Marata. Those little plays stop the Tigers pack from picking up confidence and charging fearlessly at our line. Overall it was a big game for the boys. These Tigers will take a few big scalps this year, a very dangerous side.

Just quickly going through the stats, a couple of points stood out for me:

1. We ran, like REALLY, ran the ball a lot more.
2. Our average set distance was almost plus 10 metres.
3. Our average PTB was a bit worse. (0.2 seconds).
4. Our kicking metres suffered this week; not sure how much the wind had to play with that in the first half.
5. Tigers REALLY love a dummy pass.

I like it, he was stepping all those players like Roger tonight. And call me doubting Thomas but if the Berryshiah hasn't returned, Charnze can go to left centre, Luke 1, TMM 7, Webby has to think 4D to outsmart Bellamy. NAS usually makes clowns of us, but that was before the Fish. No one makes a clown of the Fish.
true, perhaps a clownfish (heh, heh) would be appropriate (just being giddy from the win).

As for CNK, I love to win but he and DWZ are two of the worst in the game for grabbing the jaw from a slight graze. Last week he took a lie down to play for a penalty which wasn't rightfully called and then took two more hearty runs in the set. I can't stand the soccer vibes, shit irks me.

I get what you mean and it's certainly a bit of a cringy moment at the time.

Don't hate the player, hate the game. NRL hardly give us anything, and imo wouldnt have even given the Kosi one despite that being a pretty clear sin bin. Kosi had to stay down for it to be looked at too.

Yet we get Marata sin binned for standing up to Dave Fifita that time in 2023, or RTS sinbin last year, or when Chanel dropped the ball on a players head and got 10 lol. We're always scrutinized so much more than other teams imo, that its become a necessity.

Charnz was hit in his head by the tacklers shoulder. It's a penalty every day of the week, except when we're playing apparently. Grab a blanket and have a nap down there Charnz, do whats needed to get that penalty

I do agree with this. I also get the impression that AW is trying to make things simple for the young halves by designing a very simple gameplan without an elaborate attacking shape like Manly and Melbourne that can be executed relatively smoothly.

Arguably the most consistent period during our recent history where we achieved sustained success was the pre-SJ Cleary period of 2006-2010. We had a tough pack led by seasoned warriors (Price/Wiki/Luck/Rapira, etc) but a series of unheralded young Aussie spines (Rovelli/Fein/Witt/Gatis/Henderson, etc) who came to us looking for an opportunity in first grade. They were able to succeed on the back of a really simple gameplan not too dissimilar to how we play today built around forward dominance and second phase play that lacked any real attacking shape other than "pass it to Manu". I feel as though this is what AW is trying to build as well for this year. Maybe instead of pass it to Manu, it will be pass it to Ali/Leka and let them wreak havoc.
Aye man i disagree. Fien was anything but bad on attack. And Witt was bloody great too. I still have that last second storm try burned into my mind. Other than that i do agree. But i gotta say that i think there is a lot more potential in a metcalf and CHT combo than there ever was for the 2006-2010 period. Could be similar to how Rovelli from the cowboys was meant to be great but kinda fizzled out but i dobut it.
The halves combo is getting better and better every week IMO. And its starting to remind me a bit of the 2011 combo (not that closely as they are not at that level yet.) where we had one experienced 5/8 was a creative short kicking game who in attack played more like a 2nd 7 when creating the attacking shape (Maloney/CHT). And a very unexprenced 7, with a great long kicking game who is fast and unpredictable.
Now i don't disagree. Metcalf has not been "unpredictable". I think he needs to get back there and it will take some time. Nor do i think metcalf has the natural talent that SJ had. But i see somthing there, where i guess he could become a SJ like half or turn into a Rovelli type half. I hope we get the former.

I've alway been of the opinion only our Australian players cheat.
They like to call it gamesmanship.

Last week it was okay to stand in the defensive line and imitate the referee. Last night Blocker thought it wasn't on being in the defensive line.

I can't keep up with Australians (across any sport) on when it is gamesmanship and when it is cheating. When they do it, it seems to be fine. When they are the victim, it seems to be an issue.

I wish they would write a book. Even then, they wouldn't be rules. More like guidelines.

I think it is the other way round. We were disrespected by everyone (Tigers fans and wider NRL punditry world) this week. Not a single so called "expert" tipped in favor of us, even though this was at best a 50/50 game for the tigers. Just an entire week of NRL propaganda pumping up the tigers as the feel good story at our expense.
The NRL pundits are hard taskmasters. the 360 bunch are so Sydney focused but there was a lot of respect from Marty Johns and fletch and Hindy on the late show. They can see we’ve added extra starch. Asked Egan if Laurie Daley had called re origin and wade deferred. We’re better when we fly under the radar. Early days but it seems like Barnett and Fish are building a good team. AW and Stacey happy to trust the players to know their roles. Metcalf and CHT just do their roles behind a fearsome pack. Looking forward to seeing how they match up against the Storm and Broncos big boys…

Metcalf is learning on the job. He is playing within his experience as a seven he is able to do this because his forwards are giving him front foot ball. No half looks good going backwards.

There is no reason for AW to do it but with his kicking skills it would be intersting to see Boyd at 6 as the fueld kicking is a bit lacking.

Good to see our si called slow and clumsy backs, Pompey and zkosi kill it a word to Halasima celebrate after scoring the try.
