Pick Your Team Tigers v Warriors - [Round 4, 2025]

Watching the Tigers v Dolphins.

Our forwards are better than theirs. Hopefully Turuva gets suspended (crusher) and Skelton is also injured. Which should nullify our backs injuries.

Their bench has been good though.

Quietly confident of a win here.
From what I saw, they have one good prop (Tyrell May) and one really powerful impact bench middle (Royce Hunt) who causes problems in small spurts. Control them and we'll dominate the middle again. I rate the Manly and Roosters packs that we wrecked the last 2 weeks as far superior.

That being said, their unstructured play is the sort of technique that caused us problems in Vegas. They have a crafty spine that could easily exploit our flaky edge defense, especially with expected lineup changes. We just need to make sure they never get close to our red zone to exploit these weaknesses by suffocating them like we did to the Roosters and Manly.

Gotta take this one seriously but if we approach this like the last 2 weeks, we should come away with the pts.

He can do that that from a wing, wasn’t much fullback play going on. Just grind, as our attack is pretty bad atm we need a playmaker out the back. TMM
I like TMM but I'm not convinced he is the best option at fullback based just on the preseason game there. Good attacking play in the opposition 20 but there is more to the position than just that and those opportunities are fewer in the NRL games

Ya MTG leftwing might be the best with the least disruption. I don’t think Berry can pass to the left? Shame but maybe Ali/RTS could be a scary combo in the red zone later on and Berry/DWZ from mid season, the way our pack creates space and halves getting better at decision making maybe Webby can recreate that mega run of 2023

Another brainstorm idea is CNK left centre, Pompey wing and TMM FB

I expect them to come out of the blocks firing in front of a parochial crowd. But if we can weather the initial storm, we have the pack to wear them down over the course of the game. Knights made so many breaks through the middle as the game wore on in their rd 1 victory against wests. Even against the Phins, they were incredibly brittle through the middle at times.

Interesting point on the GOAT. Plays on the right so you'd assume he was a southpaw. Someone may know. Although coming from a union background as fullback or 5/8 you'd also have to assume he can kick with both feet and pass ok both ways as it's trained pretty hard in that code. Tuesday night will be interesting

This is the take. Watching last night, It seemed that the Phins couldn’t handle the Tigers off-the-cuff stuff in the final quarter, and it just rattled them. Korisau was masterful in that final run though, knowing the D was focussed on Luai/Galvin to orchestrate those last two tries - just class.
Keep it simple and I think we win, Tigers get rolling … could get tight.

We also have to prepare for the fix being in when it comes to the refs. Let's be real: part of the reason why we were able to dominate field possession at home is generous six again calls we got, especially against Manly. We should expect the reverse to happen with the parochial wests crowd on Sunday which are incredibly rabid and feral. If we can weather the storm early and get into the grind, I think we overpower them. They haven't yet been tested physically in their first three games by a dominant pack. Knights, Eels and Dolphins all have NSW cup quality packs.

Let's also be honest, the Dolphins threw that game away as much as the Tigers won it. If we were playing the Tigers yesterday and we were up 18-12 in that game, we would have taken the two at the first opportunity (which the dolphins opted against twice) and spent the rest of the game boxing wests inside their own half. We might not have the prettiest style but it'll do the job on Sunday.

We definitely playing to our strengths, up tempo type game, which suit JFH, Barnie and Clarks play, actually felt more confident the longer the game went while we had our bench players on, knowing our starters were to come back and close the game out.... Pretty happy with our halves, they doing a job without being flashy, it's only a matter of time before LM breaks out a bit more, you won't get that against a eagles rooster defense, I could see him finding more gaps against a tired tigers team, nothing better than seeing LM carve up... Can't see us losing to the tigers but I also see the tigers trying to open us up with offloads, second phase play to disrupt our systems, but I also see us opening them up with our more power game... I'm seeing us with 4-1 with the bye first 5 rounds, who saw that coming after the raiders game 🤣.... I'd have Rocco come in and move Pompey to the edge, lest disruption the better...

He did play some left centre back in the Redcliffe days
