From last years ‘we’re going to a grand final’ to this years ‘we’re so shit’

I keep saying it - we are NOT a shit team. This team is WAY better than we have displayed. They haven’t yet clicked and they prob need 6-8 rounds realistically to get into a groove. I still believe we will surprise this year as the rounds go on and other teams have injuries. If we stay healthy, we are a big chance as the year goes on.

Webby got bench rotations wrong last week reacting to what was happening. The off field stuff was a distraction to a team who forgot to show up to play football.

If they don’t show up this week after 10 days of bashing each other after being belted, then by all means lose your shit.

But can we all get some perspective here and just chill? Stop fearing Manly. They are deadset rocks and diamonds and they are a turbo injury away from imploding.

We beat them in the forwards and limit dumb mistakes, we win.

I hope we don't see the same change pre kick off. It would be good to see Clark start with Barnett and JFH start in the middle. Then like the last few years it will can we keep the momentum going.

It would be good to see Halasima and Vaimauga come on as tactical changes not late when the result is over and it looks like 13 individuals on the field instead of playing to a plan. Halasima was just doing one out hit ups, it would be better for his development playing bigger minutes in NSW Cup. If he is going to play in the middle he would work better working off someone, after a run that dents the line. Otherwise, he might be better on an edge.

It will be a tough assignment. Let's hope the boys are motivated to turn things around.

We will definitely play a lot better. Manly is a massive challenge this year (even more so after last week). A win would be surprising and require Manly to be a bit off even if we hit our peak somehow....

Players who played in the same position as they did one full year ago.
1. Barnet as prop.
2. Capewell as 2nd row.
3. Walker on bench.

That seems like a lot of change... Ok so what if they played in different positions! It's the same guys. So lets compare that.
We have put out 8 of the same players in the 17 as we did last year. So about 45%~ has stayed the same. We can say that normally it'd be 55% if egan was playing.
Those who stayed the same:
Tuaupiki, RTS, Metcalf, Barnett, Capewell, Walker and CHT.

Eagles on the other side comparing there 2024 to 2025 game 2 team lists have... 12 of 17 not only the same but in the exact same position they were last year.

Mathew Ridge may also be on point re the old boys club on coaching etc and a clean out is needed by the club. I know they tell us we are in another development year but after 30 years of development, I don't know how much more of this i can take.

In saying that, he played the same team the following week last year as round 1 and they were a moments brilliance away from knocking the storm over. I think he’s done the right thing giving them a chance to make amends, but there a some that need to lift and others pushing. If Laban has another solid game in nsw cup, I think he needs to be considered

It’s going to need a big game from Egan running out of dummy half at every chance, to try a negate the size of the Manly forward and their mobility by getting them back peddling in D. I’d like to see TT do a bit of this too.
Capewell is going to have to have a blinder on D shutting down Haumole Olakau'atu.
Then we only have to worry about ‘dancing’ Daly - skipping outside the first on coming defender to create a running overlap like he did against us last season.

Logically Webster has to give them a second chance, but if it is a down trough he might have to look at his under-performing stars.
The first game there were under-performing so called well paid plodders, collect the pay cheque players. Marata needs an attitude adjustment or try and offload him.
If Webster is the second coming he should have a game plan for his cattle and reserve bench.

If all the outside backs spend all night running from side to side swapping positions they won't have time to score any tries, that's the only way we're going to beat them.
