Capewell remaining in the side this week is great. Capewell/Pomps is definitely the best defensive center pairing we have. Timoko/Kris will find it very hard to breach our edges with those two out there. Capes in particular made Herbie look like a cup player at times last week. Only 3 weeks previously, Herbie was making mince meat out of the Raiders edge defense.
Real stretch to win without Fish or Barney. Jackson Ford is back however so we have another hard worker, we are just lacking that hard Edge from the captains. It will be our biggest win to date if we win without the captains. Go hard boys.
Dogs beat them with a much more depleted pack than the one we will be fielding only last week. Dogs knew they didn't have to dominate the middle, just hold their own or close to parity and then win enough field possession to exploit their significant defensive deficiencies out wide. Canberra's youthful outside backs are both a source of strength and weakness for them. Savage, Tamale possess speed and serious attacking threats but can be defensive turnstiles. You only need to look back to their previous 2 home games where they conceded 30 and 32 respectively in one single half against the Dolphins and Bulldogs respectively. Weeks is also a defensive liability under the high ball. He has single handedly cost Canberra two games this year with his poor kick defusal (think Manly rd 3 and Cowboys rd 4).Real stretch to win without Fish or Barney. Jackson Ford is back however so we have another hard worker, we are just lacking that hard Edge from the captains. It will be our biggest win to date if we win without the captains. Go hard boys.
Exactly the same team I'd be going with, EIT deserves his debut and provides a bit of versatility off the bench.
Capewell will be Captain.
I watched the Vegas game again this morning and I hope we play Capewell at Center too.
Thing about Vegas is our defence was not terrible, we were well positioned, we were hustling and trying hard, but the Raiders dynamic and difficult to contain attack wrong footed our guys time and again and we went down hard.
That is the problem with the Raiders, dynamic attack that wrong foots you, ball movement, angles, second phase, all the shit the old school Warriors sides were famous for.
It has finally clicked for me that the Raiders play New Zealand rugby League in the traditional sense of what New Zealand rugby league is. They are amazing eyes up play what is in front of you players and stay live with the ball players.
Kind of ironic that the threat to the Warriors is Kiwi Rugby league style attack.
All that said if Capewell plays Center then yes we can cut them off at their main strike points in the Centers. Capewell and Pompey will make a huge difference from the Vegas game.
And of course in Vegas they beat us in the middle yet here we are going up against them with even weaker Warriors middles.
Ergo the winning of this game will be whether Capewell plays center and whether the Warriors middle forward B side go nuclear on the Raiders and match up with far more vaunted and bigger NRL veterans.
In summary:
We can win if Capewell plays center and our middle forward replacements can hold the center. It is that simple.
Be careful just because we're young doesn't mean we're weakHope the home advantage helps with a weaker team
