My thoughts are that he would be better off with some more space and being one off the ruck would enable that.

I understand that but his speed creates space for others.

But is more than that. As a halfback he will need to direct the team and do most of the kicking you would think.

I see him as a big threat, much moreso than SJ 2.0 which I'm hoping will help TMM at 6 a bit more.

One of the dificulties I think of the TMM / SJ combo is neither were a huge threat running. The combo was defendable.

TBF I hope we have a better time with injuries this year.

I'm actually quietly optimistic about the season if we can keep the core group on the field.

Noone is expecting anything from us after last season and the loss of SJ/Tohu/AFB. If the main squad can keep fit, we definitely can linger around the back end of the eight.

Mind you I've been quietly optimistic every pre season for 30+ years. Always willing to give them enough rope to start the season, otherwise what's the point

Everyone seems to be getting a bit caught up about a number on the back for a trial game. Possibly misguided by the fact we just retired an elite experienced halfback who rightfully so dominated the ball.

We will need to wait and see how the attack is structured. But imo neither will get a lions share like SJ did, as neither really commands it. Expecting to see a more varied attack shape using both sides with both halves playing off eachother at different points depending on the situation.

got an answer for the number on the back thing, why not put the players name on the jersey, always wanted that when watching a game on tv, to see their name on the jersey, definitely buy their jersey, heard podcast with cg who vetoed that for sponsorship reasons (not serial) lol.

agree, with sj retired, maybe the dynamics may change for the better and they will actually step up to the mark and become even better than we think.

Why do I get the feeling the warriors are ill prepared for the 2025 season, way to many questions going into this season.

It feels very unsettling, are they okay with their halves?

I'm sorry to be negative, but I don't like the fact we are hanging on the fitness of Luke Metcalf, love the guy but he has to stay fit!

I have this team tracking to a bottom 4 finish realistically, and would be happy if we beat last seasons 13th place.

I just feel like this team is far from settled. Especially in the backs.

Your concerns are valid but at some point you just have to go to war with what you got.

I think we have a good team but need the players in the best positions to make it work. IMO TMM needs to be 7 and Metcalf 6, and RTS needs to be left wing and never at centre. Others will obviously have different views but I think those players in those positions are the optimal choices. Changing them will ultimately be the difference between a good season or not.

It's the most relevantly depressing part of our team. But by some miracle might he have gotten faster, better at catching, passing, finishing and tackling?
