Would be good to also put together a best value for money team, i.e. Sterlo, Tapine etc

*****OFFICIAL RESULTS***

A few more votes may occur but let's call this. Firstly some thank yous.
Thank you to Tajhay for allowing us and supporting us to play these games every year on the forum. He helps also through coding up features and functions to support the game. Early indicators are he will join us and play next year if possible.

Thank you to all ten competitors. Thanks for the banter. That is why i run these games. Thanks for rolling through any glitches and playing with good spirit.

The Winning Podium

In First place - Mr Brownstone. Congratulations and well played.

A three way tie for second - Defence, Boats n Hoes, Inruin

So four people on the podium this year.

Well played all.

Well played Sheep Shaggers!!!

🐑 💥 ❗🚶🏻‍♂️ 😉

@Wrighty thanks for organising and your time commitments. I think I enjoyed the bants more than the game though haha

Re: game feedback

Going 1st, 2nd and 3rd is definitely a disadvantage. I didn't realize it until just after the big spends happened. Those that went near around rounds 8-12 had the ability to really target spots/players they wanted.

How to fix? No snake order for a start. Then those going first should get more round bonus.

Now your next game night be really different so all my feedback will be for nought.

Also note, I definitely still wouldn't have won, so no sour grapes from me.
Thanks for playing Tyrael - it was great to have ten contestants and to have you on board. Yes the banter is the favourite part for me too and why we all come back every year.

Regarding your feedback in a previous game called "The Dragon's tail" those who went first in the snake had a big advantage compared to those at the end. I will take on board your feedback while noting that in the Sheep game the podium people were in positions 2,4,6 and 10. I think the very hardest position to be in was your spot 1st overall as at that stage no one including you had an idea what the bid prices were going to be or how to have a strategy for their round as round master. Mr B sitting just behind you at roundmater 2 position got to watch and learn and then sweep in with 4 picks in his round setting a foundation for his victory. As you say is there an alternative to a snake order all together? Not sure. Most of these games are run snake order, The General Manager game one of our first wasn't. I will have a think on this topic. Cheers again for playing and glad you enjoyed the banter.

Congrats Brownstone, worthy winner.....but all you boys certainly know your League.,,,,good shit!

Wrighty.... legend fella!....put yourself in as a player in the next one (speaking of which, she's a long off season, ....as i say to Mrs Boats....im ready to go again!)
Thanks Boats n Hoes. Yes I hope to compete next time. I am not a bad competitor but often make a fatal mistake!!! As we al do. You played very well. Well done on being on the podium.

How did people find the black sheep $400K refund if you took a player no one else bid on in the silent auctions?
A good twist for this game? Did you have to get really strategic in how to take advantage of it?

i don’t think you needed to be that strategic to take advantage of it however was a key part of the game obviously. My strategy was fairly simple - get as many black sheep as possible, & under no circumstances pay any money for a player not in your 17. I wonder if $400k was a little generous, maybe knock it back to $200k?

I also think it would be quite cool to do a version of this where international players are the exception rather than the rule - so for example you aim to put an incredible club level side together like say the Raiders or Broncos early 90’s but you need to play really well to do it. Means we don’t focus on the same group of players all the time as well.

I liked the black sheep element, albeit it didn’t work in the open auctions. Don’t know about the $400k plus get the player for free. Should be one or the other? Should be a positive bonus for players that will make your team rather than negative bids on reserve grade players for revenue?

Another tip for future game would be to reduce it to 1990-2025. Most of us haven’t seen/ can’t remember clearly 80’s players and it’s more inclusive to younger players having a slightly more modern focus? Perhaps players post 1995 (warriors first year on a Warriors forum?)

Just thoughts for pondering…

I think from when the Winfield Cup was in TV regularly, so from 1990 - leaving out the golden era of the early 90’s would suck a bit I reckon

I wonder if it may have worked better with a higher min bid- I think the min pay in nrl is around $400,000 now?
Which would counteract the black sheep bonus.
If u ran with that it might stop all the low bids which kinda corrupted the salary cap because u could go all in on the big stars and just top up the side with bargains.
Although maybe that was part of the fun/skill?
Idk.
Ran pretty well for the most part.

Black Sheep 17 (outside backs & prop a bit of a struggle)…

1. Brett Stewart
2. Kerry Boustead
3. Steve Rogers
4. Tea Ropati
5. Peta Hiku
6. Terry Lamb
7. DCE
8. Joseph Tapine
9. Benny Elias
10. Jake Trbojevic
11. Liam Martin
12. Greg Bird
13. Pat Carrigan

14. Kerrod Walters
15. Noel Cleal
16. Junior Paulo
17. Gavin Miller

Also special mention to Boats who generated black sheep coin off Jarrod Croker who didn’t get anywhere near test match level haha
