I can see why they might prefer Boyd over TMM for a half, but TMM offers so much versatility.

Problem is that Kiwi halves mostly do not play at school under coaches that are anything more than someones dad who played prop or second row for a senior B's team in the eighties who is kind enough to volunteer to coach because there is no one else on the school or clubs parent roster available.

That is the type of system NZ fans keep expecting the next Cooper Cronk to hatch magically from.

I was coached here by an Indian Piumber who reached the lofty heights of bench warmer for Rewa Marlins senior Bs.

In Australia I was coached by a P.E. teacher who played for North Sydney Bears.

This is the 3rd NSW Cup game I have seen and Boyd has impressed in all. He is probably the half we needed when old man Green/Sean O'Sullivan were stinking it up.

I don't know which I'd prefer out of his organisation and Metcalf's potential for an elusive running game. Probably Boyd, and probably with Metcalf outside him, though I do have a soft spot for CHT and what he brings to FG.

Give it up to RTV. I wrote him off a bit based on his body shape but he's leaned right down and looks a proper NRL athlete now.

The Hobbit General Bilbo Tanah Boyd playing really well.

Looks to be more mobile - maybe a better 2nd row prospect which is what he was playing when he came to my attention in the under 18s national comp?

Same shaped ball. Same shaped paddock. Same shaped posts. Same shaped try line. The skills are transferable and yes they were both nice blokes and I was told that David was the better rugby player. But I was in form 1 and didn't see Ian play live. We just used to run our cross country through some of his paddocks

Yep, and that's another thing, people thinking union 9s and 10s will be the answer because of the strength of union here. Completely different codes and those pozzies are a way harder transfer than outside backs .

There's a bunch of Kiwi union 9s and 10s running around in junior grades and not many still playing in league spine pozzies.
