Again, good points.

Regardless, losses are not positive. No matter the PD.

We need to ice these games and claw back that reputation of being that club that players hate to play against.

That Melbourne game is very important.

I fully get your take as far as expectations go, fully realistic. I just don't like operating at a lower bar than our competitors, as that leads the way for subpar results (only my two cents)
Hoping we're not thinking beyond this Sunday, but agree that Melbourne game is huge ... if, and it's big if, we start clicking on the edges in attack and can maintain and improve on our defensive work then we'll be a chance in that game ... Storms aren't so scary, there are weakness even in that team

I get there was some calls in the Raiders game. But you have to love how Ricky Stuart can have his side lose by 40 points. The press conference isn't about how well the opposition played it's all about the referees even though he can't talk about it.

Now all of the media is all about the decisions instead of Manly winning.

Next few weeks they'll get all of the decisions and Ricky will be less cranky.

It is funny and also predictable with the edict to not talk about referees that the first team to have issues and a coach complaining is Stuart. Now will anything come of it?

I have to laugh at the reaction to this Curran impersonating the ref decision.

A lot of the Aussie media calling it gamesmanship. There are other incidents like players getting hit in the head waiting for a penalty and that isn't right. Or look at cricket years ago the Black Caps batted out a slow over rate to stop Australia advancing which got them all wound up.

Can they give the rest of the world a list of what is gamesmanship and what they will complain about?

Gamesmanship and shithousery conveniently become "Hey, it's legal! Okay, maybe not a good look, but it's up to the IRL/FIFA/Whichever Governing Body to fix that loophole if they think it's a bad look for th game!" when your team does it - Park The Bus Football, gang-tackling in league etc etc.
What Curran did has been going on since sports began, it's just that he's a Pioneer in the ref pinging him for Taking The Piss And Acting Like You're Me. I look forward to seeing NRL players telling their opponents they're offside/whatever infringement being called a penalty since a precedent has been set...NOT.

Or did the ref simply look at Josh and still see the Warriors jersey he used to wear?

Players have been calling the opposition guy in possession to pass him the ball forever. Not a judicial thing but are they going to make that illegal now?

I remember reading about a situation in a league match - this was pre-Warriors IIRC - where a player from Team A has quite merrily thrown the ball to a player from Team B because Team B Player called out Team A Player's nickname.

Maybe the match officials need to get utu: Start shouting for the ball when Team A is in posession, get the ball and boot it back into Team A's in-goal. Just for shit and giggles...

I don't mind players calling other players offside. Or calling for the ball when they are chasing an opposition player so they pass the ball to the opposition.

Yes, it is funny but I can understand and agree with the Curran penalty. Having a player behind the defensive line telling you you are offside is a step too far. We had that break Canberra made in round 1 when Ford was offside. Imagine if he was onside and opened up that gap due to an opposition player yelling out imagine how angry we'd all be.

Australians love gamesmanship to the point of cheating. They are picky about it especially when they are on the receiving end.
