Taine was running around defenders in that Panthers game, was pretty epic running out of in-goals vs Storm in that epic too. We need a guy with ice veins to kick goals and with some field goal training he might be it. At least give him the No.14 jersey, you can’t train clutch, just look at South African cricket

If CNk is really getting slower he should try lock, Walker is uncertain to stay and Tohu’s old, CHT too small for D, Charnz would be perfect with his size, speed and passing in the middle

You’re right. I have opinions

But that’s what this forum is for. Opinions.

And it proves my point , some people on here can’t take them and resort to being personal.
I agree, there are some who do make it personal rather than discussing or providing a counter argument to the point. It's easier just to say nothing if you can't add anything or perhaps use the reactions.

I honestly don't know where to stand on the SJ debate. The team and him have been so inconsistent over such a long period of time and for a number of different reasons.

Mercurial? Enigmatic? Flawed genius?

Is he a symptom of our last 12 years or a cause? A mix of both?

Prior to 2023 I was hoping he retired and we moved on. 2023 I dared to dream and was amazed he put together a season of consistency like he did. This year, he just doesn't have it. Maybe the mind does but the body is lacking? I dunno.

It's hard to argue against your point because of his career but likewise it's hard to agree given the talent he possesses.

Could over reliance on one player not be a good thing for a team sport, particularly a team like ours? I mean take him out of 2023 and the game plan doesn't work. Seemingly putting him in this year makes the team adjectly worse.

I'll buy your point of view and raise you a point that SJ is also a halves block. Maloney and Townsend left and went on to play better football and have premiership winning careers. Is that what we are seeing without him at 7 this year? Better performances from our halves without him?

Discuss. 🐦🐦🐦🐆🐦🐦🐦

I disagree, if used right he could be another Walsh, he is too good for NSW cup.
Its about timing tho. He is a little body, like Walsh. Whether you like Walsh or not he's targeted & whether he pulls thru like Billy the kid, he may be anything.
Another preseason for Taine, some extra muscle and experience, he could be ready to fire. Would hate to push him too early but a presason may work wonders...only those in the know will know. What everyone pins there hopes on in here is just noise for the most part and all want for him is to succeed...he's got it in him. Patience is imprtant

The thing is, it’s always about patience and waiting with us while other teams give them the opportunity and we lose them, we need him playing, in the team or risk losing him.

The only thing that’s making me feel this way about SJ is that he just seems too fucking happy all the time regardless of what’s going on in our club or on the field.

It’s like he’s checked out of the game all togethor and just maintains his personal image.

He’s one of the oldest and most capped players in the most influential position but nobody respects him out there. He still has a childish demeanour about him.

Princess, baby face etc etc

We need a fucking tough, commanding bastard in the halfs. We have one in the forwards but just need one in the half’s.

Look at how quickly Walsh beefed up. Only took him one pre-season with the bronx and he put on some decent muscle.
Your brain is a muscle too 🤣
Well technically maybe not lol.
Love Taine's disposition, talent & don't want to rush his development. Having said that, after next preseason they should use him, rightfully & righteously...he should be ready 🤩

Mate, if you’re gonna be dishing them out be ready to receive.

BTW is there anyone or anything you like about this team or club? Some positive vibes from u once in a while wouldn’t hurt 😉

Yea but I’ve changed in the last 48 hours.

I no longer believe in aggressive taunts to my fellow sufferers of the church of Penrose.

Ummm I like that the club reflects my own personal journey and struggles as a limited means, under resourced under dog that’s constantly up against it but continues to show up even though he doesn’t win all the time he never quits.

I like that the warriors is about the only thing that can hold my attention for 80 mins and make my heart race, nerves race, palms sweaty and feel emotions that are otherwise reserved only for the rarest occasions.

I suppose it’s love

But it’s also hate

So it’s definitely love

Wah?! That's a bit rough Aman... and Akker (with the like?) Hough!

We've played Rugby League/sports with characters that smile all the f%ck)ng time, especially out of the game, whether at pubs/clubs parties or at home! (real!) I say WE because maybe you can relate (you know you secluded mfers 🤟😊.) Lol, nah my bad, stay

I'ma miss SJ just like I missed the General... but Ali Lauiti'iti's exit, my eyes were crying.

A Terry Lamb like could be the answer, Aman. Who knows?

Anyhow, be strong Whanau, nek week's going to be an emotional roller F*ck)ng hang coater.
