Absolutely 💯.
Metcalf must be up there with the comps best 7s and hopefully only getting better.
Guys like Brown I would argue have peaked
Part of the reason I hope we stay away from KP and Manu. Completely opposite in that regards. Trying to lure superstars will only end in tears. Taking outside players and juniors then turning them into superstars will be far better for a club like the warriors.

He’s doing just what Te Maire Martin was doing last year when SJ was out.
TMM helped the side to win 63% of the 8 games he played Halfback in 2024. He passed the ball into space to help set up the match leveling try to Tuaupiki against the Panthers but failed to step up against the Raiders, Bulldogs & Dolphins when the match was in the balance.

Metcalf has won 78% so far from 9 games this season. Multiple match clinching kicks and a game defining try saving tackle.

I think they're doing very different things. Our offense was undoubtedly more productive with TMM at #7 but across his time at Halfback he had AFB averaging 184m per game (which was well above his season average even though it included a 62m game).

Territory doesn't appear to be a stat they track these days but we're sitting second in Tackles Inside Opponents 20 & lead the comp in the distance from our own tryline that we have our first play the ball. Based on how TMM was punting the ball in 2024 I doubt we'd have as much field position in 2025 if Metcalf was just doing what TMM did last season

Did he play against the dolphins at suncorp? I think he did have a clutch play drawing a penalty against the dogs and not called, and CHT was given many sitters to draw or win the game vs raiders

Looking back he did set up Barnett's match leveling try vs the Dolphins but left the field goal attempts to CHT afterwards. He missed his droppie attempt vs the Bulldogs & that's where the overlooked penalty occurred. Had it been called he'd have another win on his CV but hard to put someone hitting you high & late as a clutch moment he created.
TMM is a talented player but my original point is his body of work at #7 in 2024 isn't similar to what Metcalf is doing this season
