It looked like cramp from the get-go to me. But if not, was scary to watch that
I hated watching that. Had a parent watching football next to me a few years ago and said he wasn't feeling well and was going to call his wife to come and drive him home. Took out his phone and just stood there staring at it with his finger hovering above the screen. It was like he had forgotten what he was doing, how to do it and his brain was trying to figure it all out. Then he collapsed. I managed to break his fall somewhat. Last night it looked like that to me with CNK.

Im a bit iffy on whether it was just cramp. Felt like he snapped out of it a bit and defaulted to cramp almost like buying time to reset himself. Hope I'm wrong because nothing worse than carrying on from that in a game.

I'm with you.

He looked wobbly. Almost a dampened version of what Ford did.

I love the dedication, but this is life long stuff. No job is worth that.

Although looking back the penalty goals essentially won us the game, they still irk me somewhat. If this weekend has taught us anything, the new rules re six agains, etc means that there will be violent momentum swings in any game, no matter who we are playing against. Given this new equilibrium of each game being a tale of two halves, it's imperative to maximize points when we are dominating the territory. We were doing exactly that, absolutely pounding the dragons pack into the ground and winning contact in all the tackles. The game ends up being different imo if we end up being 18-0 ahead instead of 14-0 after Leka won the challenge. We could have gone on with it in the second half. Same thing happened last week when we decided to go 30-12 up, instead of try for 36-12 by going for the try instead. Last 2 weeks could have been 13+ wins if we had stepped on the throat of the cows and dragons instead of the safe option.
Couldn't agree more, good point about how the momentum swings. Even if you don't score the try you still benefit from making them do extra D and not giving them a rest which the penalties does. Given we have done it a few weeks in a row now expect teams to deliberately give it away so they can get away with 2 points and not 6

Watch the replay. You can actually see it hit one leg and then the other

Interesting to hear in the post game interview between Barnett and Darryl that there is a perceived slope to the ground that might be real. Le Dragon won the toss and chose to run uphill first half and downhill second half.

The Lords of Australia lol

To me he clearly looked dazed before pretending to have cramp, if acting he’d be staying down or holding his jaw instead

Yes there is a difference between on top with momentum and having no idea how to score due to fatigue, instead of 34:12 or 22:4 we were 30:12 and 14:4 before getting chased down in thrillers, remember the cows were imploding when we took the 2. That’s the difference between us and Storm, ultra conservative vs ruthless to nail the coffin, we were literally doing the same thing last year in that famous loss to the Storm, had all the momentum to to go from 6:18 to 22:18, then chose 2 penalty goals instead of possibly 2 more tries against a rattled side

Union sides worked that out because they know every time they take a 3 they will have to defend in their half and possibly give up 7 every kickoff

Would be interesting to see if Fish has a different mentality

Three bouquets and three brick bats

Bouquets
1 The handling of the team. We had fewer handling mistakes than they did. And we looked like a better side because of it.
2 The bomb diffusal squadron ie the back three. Great job pulling down Gary Owens all night with no issues.
3 Scramble defence is better this year than past years where every line break against led to a try.

Brick Bats
1 I was flabbergasted, upset, cursing, at Barnett for his chip and chase as a front rower on the 5th tackle. On another night the other team collect that and run the length of the field to score or it is goes for a 7 tackle set. We were winning the game at that stage and did not need to attempt to create a try. If I were the coach I would be making Barnett run laps for that.

2 Egan made two poor passses that went to nobody in the red zone and we had to run back ten metres to pick it up off the deck

3 I hope Leka learns from his high shot. I felt that was avoidable and came at a bad time.

Yeah IMHO CNK needs a rest every week he looks close to or have full blown concussions not healthy mentally no good ... I had muti concussions last year of footy that was it for me..

Metcalf with a drop in the red zone too. Egan probably from sore ribs

I’m pretty sure it wasn’t the 5th tackle, it was the 4th, which makes it even worse imo. Was a shocking decision

1 Metcalf s silly kick from behind the try line which didnt reach the 20 and gave Drags possession on the 20. I mean really how many times do they practise this kick?
2 The wide wide spacing on the try line between Metcalf and another play maybe Jake the Muss Marata which the drags scooted through to score.

Luke redeemed himself with the winning drop goal.
