NRL 2025 NRL Preseason Challenge

Which is why im surprised there C team made so many fewer errors. Cool to seem them giving pretty much all of the kicking to Trindall this game. Wonder if it's just to save nico for vegas.
Trindall is the better organiser and kicker IMO and from memory was taking the lead role for the back end of last season for the Sharks

B-team sharks seem to be rolling the b-team raiders. They always seem to have some insane depth over at the shire. Honestly expected a tighter game between both b-teams in the 2nd half after that panthers game.

Also always fonud it a weird rule that if you drop the ball after a head clash caused/lead by the defender then it's still a knock on.

You used to hear about clubs aiming to get players weight down as the season progresses. It looks like a few instances with AFB or Paulo the clubs may see the game differently now under the 6-again rule and have pushed them a bit harder. Similar to when the interchange changed from unlimited to limited. The distance they'd run in the pre season would increase.

I know it is natural to focus on the Warriors when seeing a former player looking leaner. They may have different plans for him.

Some responsibility needs to go back on the player. Remember there was the post on here about him getting KFC. How often was that happening? Has he cleaned up his diet away or focused on it more?

It could be a case of he's moved club, his contract has increased, he has more motivation. A lot of things in his home life may have changed with the move that could have played a part in how he approached his football.

yeah, i also do not rate Hynes as a half, should be a FB if anything... i'm suspending judgement on Luke - something to work with there and it's apparent they're all in on him at 7 now, so i hope he shines
Yup, AW has confirmed he will be the 7 for round 1. Time will tell and I hope he shows a lot more than what he has done because we need a 7 who can provide consistent attacking stats. My thoughts are we have got our halves around the wrong way and we had a template from mid season last year to work with so changing our halves, and our attacking structure apparently, seems a bit of a weird decision to me.

To add context. That info is from this article.

“He has been outstanding,” said Webster. “He has owned it all pre-season, he has wanted extra responsibility. Everyone has seen Luke Metcalf as a second receiver but his kicking game, his direction, his speed, his threat – he is a player for the future and he is doing a great job.”

According to his coach, the former Shark is up for the challenge.

“He didn’t come to us but when we asked him he was so confident,” said Webster. “He was like, I can do this, I want it, I reckon I can run the team.”

On a side note. Really wish they just posted a video of the interview or did a media day like they did last week. Love hearing it directly from the horse's mouth rather than it being interpreted.
