General Your 2025 team

NZWarriors.com
Seen Tuapiki talked bout as a 1/2 back option. Not a stupid idea. And you know if it’s talked about in a chat room then it’s been talked about at Warriors HQ.
Jahrome Hughes played limited games as a fullback at the GC and NQ from 2013-2016. Then in 2017 he went to Melbourne as a fullback and sometimes centre playing in the Qld Cup. End of 2018 and 1st 1/2 of 2019 he was pretty much their starting fullback. Mid 2019 Brody Croft shat the bed and long story short, Hughes was staring 1/2 in ‘19 losing GF team and never looked back. Won the comp in ‘20 playing 1/2 all season.
Tuapiki and Hughes have lots of similarities. Long kicking game, has a good step, can defend, likes a chip and go, goal kicks. Pretty much controlled NSW Cup team this year from fullback. Definitely worth a hard look from the coaching staff IMO. And it’s not like we’re chock full of quality #7s at present.

WARRIORS

Predicted team
: 1. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck 2. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak 3. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad 4. Rocco Berry 5. Taine Tuaupiki 6. Luke Metcalf 7. Te Maire Martin 8. James Fisher-Harris 9. Wayde Egan 10. Mitchell Barnett 11. Marata Niukore 12. Kurt Capewell 13. Tohu Harris 14. Dylan Walker 15. Erin Clark 16. Tom Ale 17. Bunty Afoa

Analysis: After a disappointing year the Warriors must pick Roger Tuivasa-Sheck at fullback with Taine Tuaupiki a chance to take over form Marcelo Montoya on the wing, after his return to the Bulldogs. The other wing spot will be Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, with Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad and Rocco Berry back from a shoulder injury, forming a new centre pairing. Luke Metcalf is set to form a new halves pairing with new halfback Te Maire Martin after Shaun Johnson’s retirement, with Chanel Harris-Tavita keeping them honest. James Fisher-Harris will join the front row after four premierships with the Panthers in a timely boost after Addin Fonua-Blake’s departure to the Sharks. Mitch Barnett will be the other prop, while Wayde Egan is the starting hooker. The back row of Marata Niukore, Kurt Capewell and skipper Tohu Harris back from a wrist injury, picks itself. Dylan Walker will be the bench utility, with recruit Erin Clark from the Titans, Tom Ale and Bunty Afoa rounding out the bench.

about 100:1 we see that line up lol

No injuries and everyone available I’d go with something like this. Big powerful pack and bench. We need to own the middle so we show the razzle dazzle

1. CNK
2. DWZ
3. Berry
4. Leiataua
5. RTS
6. Metcalf
7. Tuapiki
8. JFH
9. Egan
10. Barnett
11. Laban
12. Capewell
13. Harris

14. Walker
15. Halisima
16. Nuikore
17. Clark

You had me at razzle dazzle, then I looked at the team and I'm not as convinced

Some of the teams being put forward are too conservative.
Halasima should be starting and playing 80 minutes.
You don’t get someone this good very often.
Here, Here

Tauapiki
Tuivasa-sxheck
Leiataua
Berry
Watene-zelezniak
Martin
Metcalf
Fisher-Harris
Egan
Barnett
Capewell
Halasima
Ale

Harris-Tavita
Sifakula
Niukore
Harris

I see walker returning to Aussie, why I haven’t picked him

Aprt from having cnk in for berry i'd like to see this - go energy first up then bring in the aging heavy artillery to smash down remaining resistance ?

I have Berry in there over CNK because besides Penrith all the best backlines are full of tall natural gifted athletes, Berry and Leiataua are our only backs in that mold, plus Berry still has a lot to offer I think.

Not saying that’s the only reason I’m picking them, if Berry can continue on with his 23 form and Leiataua does his thing that’s a pretty good centre pairing

Thoughts? Not a fan of our bench, manly Ale and Bunty. Taine on a wing is interesting.

I agree in regards to having Halasima hold that right edge.
Although I believe he’s actually a left edge player?

However I’d prefer that he shared it with Laban. 16-18 games Halasima, 6-8 games Laban
You can’t expect those young guys to pump it out for all 24 games. Especially nothing for 80 minutes.
One of them starts, with Niukore/Barnett playing 15-20 minutes as required. I wouldn’t carry the other one on the bench.

The main sticking point for me is that bench. A proper 4 prop rotation is needed IMO, with Niukore playing the dual Prop/backrow.
Erin Clark is an “extra middle” who’s primary role is actually hooker cover/ball player.

I DON’T want to see 3 players under 100kg on that fucking bench ever again……..

14. Walker
15. Niukore
16. Sifakula/Ale
17. Clark

Funnily enough, if you look at the stats he had a better 2024, almost all stats are up (on a per game basis) other then try assist but that would more be the ineffectual right attack, which I would say more lays at SJ or CNK this year.

Did score one more try tho, 4 this year compared to 3 last

Only 4 months to go until we get to watch the boys in pre-season xD, anyone else counting down yet? Gonna be a long offseason haha.
