CNK 26runs 290m

AJ Brimson 14runs 186m

I know we all marvel at his stats but it comes at a cost

CNK is like a hybrid forward

Hes taking middle forwards hit ups when i prefer to see the young guys and fresh players doing this instead

Laban 5 runs (45mins), Ale 4 runs (30mins)

Webby needs to revisit the roles in the team and diversify / spread the load more

Zyon Maiu’u 13mins - 7 hit ups!!! That’s what. I am talking about !!

I loathe to say Webby was right but when he said they are losing the rucks as in we get slowed down which screws our attack. Then they get speedier play the ball so it ignites theirs. Against every and any team such dominance is paramount to setting your attacking platform. Our defence starts from dominating the tackles, so when we don't our edges and wings HAVE to compress to compensate.

As an example. When I watch Berry miss his defensive assignment it has been (sometimes) due to the middles losing the tackle and his inside blokes (SJ and Capewell) compressing in to compensate. By then every backline has a numerical advantage and Berry or DWZ have to choose which of the 2 or 3 runners they tackle
Certainly elements of losing the ruck at times. That first titans try can't be put down to that though. I almost feel like they aren't anticipating that the ball might even come their way. The titans first try Berry and DWZ in particular looked like they just weren't even considering that and so get caught out. Just about every poster on here picked DWZ to make a jamming in bad read and get burnt by Khan.

Don't know what's going on to be honest. Be interesting to see who is overseeing the defence in the edges from an assistant coach perspective.

We have made player changes and coaching changes and you would have to say that at the moment it doesn't look like it has been an improvement. Gone backwards if anything.

Thinking outside the box / out loud

Is there value with switching a winger with a forward on the last play so that a forward can do the kick return??

We burn a good 2-3 tackles before any one forward shows up to take a run… can we be a little smarter in this space .. maybe a Laban hanging back and swapping space with Montoya a few times …

Obviously not the old fellas like Tohu and Capes…

Ale I think if can catch…

Is time to admit we may have been wrong about whether or not Justin Morgan was a coach's asshole

I think some reasons this wouldn't work is that:

1. Forwards are gassed from defending the middle.
2. Forwards are gassed from attacking in the middle.
3. Outside backs aren't as gassed due to not defending in the middle hence the ability to track up and down the pitch.
4. You would be trying to use a forward less in the middle just to track back on kick returns.
5. We have some of the best kick returning outside backs in the comp.

I like the thinking outside the box though!

Good analysis

Why are we losing the ruck is an obvious question

Is the lack of size + age slowing our ability to dominate tackles ?

Is it the opposing team who are younger and more agile?

Are they targeting specific players who they know are slow to their feet? Or injured, or inexperienced?

The ref have a large part to play also but you can’t control the ref so no point trying to fix something you can’t control

It’s cause and effect but if you can’t control your ruck and your outside get stage fright every time the ball comes their way on defense then holes open up and then it’s game over…
Yes to all.

Sorry dude. Normally i'll be the first one to stick up for wingers and outsides having to deal with multiple runners on overlaps. But that Tits first try came purely from Dallin jamming in on the centre when Rocco well n truly had him covered. There was no overlap until he jammed in, unfortunately leaving clear space to one of the quickest wingers in the game.

Rocco's missed tackle on Kelly that led to their second try was a pure one on one miss, then to compound things SJ had actually got across on to Kelly but Dallin once again shuts too early leaving Khan Pereira a free run to the line. Rocco did the same thing last week as well with a straight 1 on 1 miss when Moses Suli scored......and clearly Dallin's poor reads are costing us bigtime.

Never mind the attack, defence has been woefully inept the last 2 weeks. Ben Hunts try last week where both Te Maire and Egan drop of the tackle was piss poor,

The territory game which everyone now hates after 2 losses is the way to go, it works for us. It however doesnt work if we're continuously giving away piggyback penalties letting teams out of their half, and then compounding that with bad defensive lapses througn too many 1 on 1 misses or bad misreads.

Poor discpline and defence.......those are the work ons for us.

I see getting gassed as an excuse

Pompey could do a shift in the forwards. Play on the wing then occasionally swap with Laban with the goal of Laban getting more hit ups in the next set

Laban has handles. I saw him take a few nice bombs in nsw cup so i know he can catch. He’s got speed to burn also.

Gotta think smart and use your squad to its fullest potential

and another one that pissed me off Roger got a bat down off a titans player and throws a lazy ass pass to Montoya, that if it didn’t hit the ground we score.
I was wondering if anyone else saw that.

Was a bad camera angle didnt really show it but it was a clear line in front. Just had to go to hand. We had our chances. That Egan knock on tho, that hurt.

Good points. Though my view on Berry's miss on Suli was the compression and numbers. Happy to be wrong with the greater good of the team. Ta

No your right. They were compressed, and Dragons were going for the spread with players in motion and a few decoy runners. Thought we had done pretty well tho for no one to jump out of the line and slide across enough for Rocco to have enough of a oppertunity to put a shot on Suli.......to be fair tho Suli is a beast.

Suli trying to remember if it was JWH or JFH knocked him into next week, some hyphenated bastard

Or it’s certainly players not dominating in the tackle allowing the opposition a quick play of the ball.
