Because I'm a masochist, I just watched a replay of the game.

This was your classic "bad day at the office" and as the commentators kept saying the Warriors were just "off their game."

Looking at it objectively, if one of the DWZ disallowed tries was allowed, we would have been looking at a golden point finish.

So it was actually a very close game - the Knights didn't play that well either.

If the Warriors can win this week against the Roosters, I'll start believing again.
We have had 4 weeks of 'bad days at the office' haha. I can't see it changing anytime soon, father time has caught up with key members of our squad and can't see it improving this season.

Next year will be Grandfather time. So things might not change.
If Montoya and at least 1 centre arn't replaced then I think a new post needs to start called Sack Webster

I haven't read through all the comments so this question may have been asked and answered already.

Why weren't they wearing longer sprigs? The ground was chopped up before they got on it and players were slipping over. The downpour made it worse. I expected them to change boots at half time and saw some Knights players with what looked like long metal sprigs.

Webby needs to grow a spine and really call out some of the players who have underperformed and let him down.

Fucking Tohu looked waaaay too cosy in that press conference. Absolutely no problem making eye contact and looking at Webby while he tried to explain what happened. Tells me alot about what is happening behind the sheds. No accountability by senior players to own their mess. Leave it to their coach to talk his way out of it

Low on confidence, even the coach and it showed at the presser.

When you are low on confidence, everything becomes harder.
Yea this is the first period in Webby's tenure where it looks like the confidence is completely gone and they are second guessing the game plan.

If it's all just "if we keep doing this, it will come right and we will win games" during the week. Then you can see why the confidence is shot, because that game plan has been figured out and we aren't seeing any movement on variation.

At the end of the day who would know what's going on behind those four walls, we can only comment on what we see during the 80minutes and it ain't pretty or even remotely close to it for a month now.

I was concerned and disappointed about the demeanor of Tohu during the presser.
Anyone else see the same?

No surprise that Graham Annesley brushed over the DWZ mid air tackle in his Monday briefing.

All he did say that was regarding the half time conversation that there is no policy not to award the penalty try in that scenario and that its up the ref /bunker to decide if a try would have been scored without the penalty offence. Guess the Knights coach who seemed pretty sure that it was a policy, or Annesley saying its not is a big fat liar!

No mention at all about the early contact before DWZ had caught the ball, or whether it was a professional foul or not.

Think annersley needs to school his refs, SJ went to the ref just before halftime and he said that they never award a penalty try in that scenario. Now annersley says that’s not the case and up to refs discretion?

Tactics were baffling. Weird bench selection. Knights first try came from a grubber. The ball skidding along in the wet was hard to handle in the conditions. We never tried it once. Just a bit bizarre, especially from a premier half. It's almost like all the options have been put away and it's a rinse and repeat bomb to their right winger and don't contest.

Actually, the most exciting piece of play was when they rushed SJ and forced us to run it on the last. DWZ cocked it up with the foot hitting the line but at least we asked a different question and forces the defence to adjust.

Just watched the thread with all our 2023 tries and very interesting seeing our play in the first few games and how we were scoring.

Where they have created a rod for their back now is that you would take the penalty every time now if it means you are stopping a likely chance for a try.

Typical NRL Bullshit.
To be honest i am not sure we even stay in their Fu...... competition.
We will NEVER win it
That same ref sent a try up to the bunker early in the season as a try, to which it couldn’t be seen as any reason to overturn it. Been the only try in that situation all year I’ve seen overturned

I guess we could make big sweeping changes but at the same time. A few

I know whilst the first didnt have as much playing time in his last year and Marata was suspended four(?) times during the year as well, but we are missing the hard running of Curran and Niukore. Tohu having to do more hard carrying on attack rather than playmaking, the ball being deep at centre to wing. A lot of side to side instead of straight forward. Last week was the first seven day turnaround of four i think, so im confident considering the time we have to practise.

We will get there though, there's class across the team and players dont generally go suddenly from career best form to needing to suddenly retire within six months either.

What i will say is the gameplan, grounding them down is not being implemented with any foundation as we're not completing well enough, or were being penalised or releasing the pressure through a sequential six again. That discipline and handling can be fixed. Its not systemic, theyve only lost three games in a row, not five, seven or ten.

I saw Te Maire Martin take a bit more involvement over the weekend, not enough control but hopefully we see more and more in coming weeks to put to rest any notion that he isnt dynamic enough to help the side score points. We shall see though ive been wrong more times than im right haha. It was a damn shame to lose Metcalf so early in the season, he was looking sprightly and that shift in pace which puts him past defenders.

The bench does need a shakeup, see lots of teams do it but why carry the extra player in these situations if not to play. Spread the load a bit more.

And finally ownership, ensuring that the players and coaches take ownership of sorting it out and not just waiting for it to happen. I have faith that these guys will take ownership.

Imagine this scenario, after a period of close losses the warriors regrouped, welcomed back niukore and some of the troops before the late return of Luke Metclaf who bursts forward into superstar status with a heroic performance to help the Warriors win the grand final!

After watching most of the other teams play on the weekend we look a bunch of snails playing croquet. Limited attack game plan, players that were once great at other clubs who are past it such as Capewell and Harris and guys like Montoya who has lost that attack running back.I blame myself for thinking after last year that we would make at least top 8 but if we don't beat either Roosters or Panthers then it will look like so many past seasons just another one to write off and await for the nxt big names to ride over the hill.Must be the tranquilizers kicking in after that performance yesterday.

You go watch his pressers with Browny and it was much more concerning, could tell Tohu didn't believe a word Browny said.

Tohu with Webby is much more positive, and near looks in love with him half the time. Not a concern imo but I'm no body language expert.
