Watching other games there are attacking threats that have 10+ tries this season. Typically a barnstorming or super fast second rower; fullback, lock or centre.

They can bust a line and both score points and become a defensive focus opening holes around them.

Our superstars:
Fullback - CNK 4 tries
2nd row - Marata 1 try; Ford 3 tries; Capewell 2 tries;
Lock - Tohu 0 tries; Walker 1 try
Centres - Berry 4 tries; Pompey 2 tries; RTS 4 tries.

Telling our x-factor attacking threat is AFB with 8 tries - almost as much as all our centres combined!! Is this exceptional? There are over 40 players with 8+ tries in the NRL…

DWZ is our leading try scorer with 10 but I think this highlights our attacking averageness all season where nobody is key attacking positions have found form.

We have no attack

It literally does not exist.

What we have is one of the best forward packs in the comp that rumbles up field all game...

Once we get in the 20 though she's all over.

We do need to back up the forwards. I would have Tuaupiki at FB the middle backing up AFB et al. Injuries have cruelled the effectiveness, no more so than SJ and Metcalf.

When it's all said and done this year the injury toll should rightly be considered the biggest factor in our performance.

Haven't seen it mentioned since but I think 2 or 3 weeks ago we were listed as having the most injuries.

However, every team has that and what's more important is how you deal with what you have avaialble than what you have missing...

We have hurt ourselves by selecting players not 100% and neglecting others.

So RTS is an issue now?
Jesus you people are never happy 😁

Yes he was probably out of position for the 2 try saves and got a bit lucky but him and AFB were the difference between a 'comfortable' win and going to the wire with the worst team in the comp.

Does anyone know where I can put some money on 'warriors go 12+ up, ref will call weak penalties and 6 agains to fuck them.' I feel there is money to be made 😁
I think everyone agrees that RTS did a job against the Tigers. But there is a huge disparity of views on this forum about how good a fullback he is - some think he’s the greatest fullback of the modern era, others think he’s one dimensional, can’t read the game and stifles our attack, most are probably somewhere in the middle. That’s what’s being discussed.

We so desperately need Taine next week to give us the much needed additional attacking and creative spark.
RTS will actually be better for the team on the wing.
Surely Webby goes this route as he did v the Raiders.
The injury to Ford, while shit for him, is a real bonus for us.
For sure his work rate is big but he is one vanilla player too many and we need someone who brings more creativity or someone more barnstorming.
Even if it is Bunty.
Prefer Sifakula, Ale, Laban or Kalani Going myself.

I'd rather that situation than say the opposite, no defence or go forward, I think we can add the attack, SJ should be back next week, and even if he's running at the same rate as earlier in season that gives us more options ... after seeing some of those games yesterday I'm actually pretty confident we'll go the distance this year ... have been saying that for a while, gotta believe it... the dogs attack went from 0 to 100 yesterday ... simply by looking at an opposition's obvious weakness -- they cleared the ruck with every play the ball and when it was there put it on the edge ... quite a simple plan, and everyone was going 'Ciraldo's a genius' - it was a good read but the broncs just didn't adjust, which is more worrying for them, rather than good for the dogs ... we can do the same

We are roughly 50 points less attack and conceded about 60 ponts more in defence. I think the defensive resilience we showed last season is missing and more of a factor. I also think our over reliance on our right side attack got exposed and we are scoring much more evenly across the field now.

yep, fair... the right side is now a work on, (ahem, tmm...) and those defensive lapses are frustrating to say the least

Let’s compare RTS vs Walsh

What makes Walsh so good isn’t just the mascara on his face

1. Hes got blistering speed
2. The ability to link in seamlessly with the back line to
3 offload to the wing with a skip pass
4. A fantastic kicker

Offset against being a useless defender..

RTS had speed but that’s gone now. He’s not outrunning anyone to the try line …

Walsh will lose his speed but 2. To 4. Will still be there and I think his defence will improve over time

RTS used to be a terrible defender also

Ok I think I’m done arguing with myself on RTS 😂
Walsh puts himself out of position when the opposition get a break

The absence of SJ appears to play a part, particularly in the case of DWZ.

Individually hes great, but he's either being used wrong or doesnt make the team better. And that latter part is what some of us are worried about. The team and most individual players are going backwards. We went from top 4 to celebrating a ugly win against the triple wooden spooners.

I think thats what most are misunderstanding about my criticisms. I dont dislike any player or coach, I just want every part of the club to be improving and if its not I'm going to call it out.

And is is part of my point. I really like Walker, but hes not good at starting 13. Ford is a great starting prop, but not great off the bench.

The only time I think we've looked like exploiting a teams weakness was the Bunnies game. The rest sometimes it looks like we are playing to their strengths

That might be on the halves but in my highly opinionated opinion it still involves our hard working awesome pack.

What I mean is we need almost everybody running lines and stacking numbers to compress or break the line when we are in the 20.

But....but. We can also attack from anywhere in the other 80 metres of the field. Think Dallins try which qualifies as super hyper premium diamond long range for us. We have that in us. We have just reshaped our attack to be mostly geared for the 20. I don't get it. I love a good length of the field try. Or an 80, 70, 60, 50, 40 or 30 metre try.

We might still be in Penrith emulation phase of completions and territory but not in the consistency, deadly attack from anywhere on the field etc.

Bunnies was a prime example of build pressure, then pull the trigger. Since then our clunkability has resulted in points available but not points scored. Such a shame.

*Edit. Plus our inability to keep our players on the field and/or sustain our best for more than 20 glorious minutes per game

When I was learning business management from a cool dude he said

Get the right people on the bus

Then put them in the right seat.

Using this model.....RTS has been on the bus but has sat in too many seats and It's almost time to get off the bus.

And some people think the earth is flat, when playing fullback what is this attack that RTS has been stifling?

He should have been letting the greenius, kodi and CHT cook all those years, that would’ve unlocked things.

RTS and SJ had one (one!) season where they either weren’t at the club or didn’t have a serious injury.
