Pick Your Team Warriors v Manly - [Round 2, 2025]

I think we carry Capewell on the bench...hes got versatility, and it may just be that he's not an 80min player these days.

CNK looks cooked to me. All the effort areas which are his go to are missing, ive been a big supporter but based on that effort I think his best days are long gone.

Tmm showed in the last trial that he has the ability to tke pressure off the playmakers and pick and choose the times he injects himself.

Pick Boyd for his organisational skills and kicking and let Metcalf and TMM run.

Vaimauga or Afoa into the starting side at prop to split JFH and Barnett, and blood the young guys in the backrow. We ain't winning anything but potentially the spoon so get some game time into the youth.

All the good teams(pretty much every team) have young, tall athletic backs, we have short and slow. Step up Amituanai and Kali, Webby stuffed up big time not giving them big game time in the trials to see what they offer instead of playing Kosi.

Ale, Vaimauga and Halasima all need to play big minutes imo as they’re forwards in our team who are a point of difference with footwork and offloads. I really rate Ale feel like he’s been on a leash a bit under Webby, Has Footwork for days and a good offload.

I have tried to make the point about the importance of trials on here but was scoffed at. That's why nearly every team at nearly every club hold trials.
Too fn late now. Season has kicked off

Im open to either hooker being the starter and the other coming on to run, Egan might be the better at the moment.

Get the young players in, Niukore has played himself out of a spot - hes giving fafita energy thinks hes too expensive to be dropped.

Im just not sure on the other wing, not up to date on the progress of the up coming wingers. Don’t really want Kosi there either.

I want to persist with Metcalf as a future 7, have TMM to assist with getting around the park while he learns two half back kind of vibe with metcalf being the main 7.

Otherwise pretty standard picks, was only otherwise tossing up if we have a 80 minute secondrower

Can't have too many wholesale changes, but Ford would pay the price of that game for me.

I get he's fit but that doesn't mean he's a good player. Our bench needs to bring punch and Webby needs to wear his big pants now and start with some youth.

Why on earth you changed that starting lineup when Clark was fantastic in the trials starting for somebody like Jackson Ford, I could not believe it.

Healey is not there because Egan may go down, he's there to open up the game when defenders are tired in a 1- 2 punch with Egan!

Imagine that backline against manly.

Probably won’t have to thou unfortunately.
And we need wholesale changes imo, the same people who needed to go last year as well

There's got to be some consequences - first to go is Niukore, unsure if Capewell should follow (if not is he interchange?), Charnze not really because he played poorly (though he did) but because I want to see this game plan that Webby has been talking about ...
I could get on board with that team with one small change of Healey/Lussick on the bench for Ford. I am solid in my believe Egan shouldn't play 80min. I like TT but I think it showed today that if he is going to be used as a battering ram for hit ups it's not going to work. I also would be keen to see what EIT can do though I do think it's a bit early for him - particularly against the top teams we are about to come up against.

I completely forgot Boyd is in the squad until I read some of the teams. Don't want a constant chopping and changing of the halves for the season, but Metcalf or TMM at 6 and Boyd at 7 would be interesting to see if things don't get better in the early rounds.

My eyes will be on Boyd this Saturday to see how he goes. If he is fit, pulls up he features. With Manly, DCE kicking game is always on point and Boyds a good kicker.

1. TT (on the wing he gets used as a battering ram. That aint his game)
2. CNK (like @Inruin said we rely on the wings to get yardage CNK can do that for us and I dont rely want Kosi).
3. Ali (he had a forgettable day bur ceiling is high and will get better).
4. Pompey (young Eddie might not be yet ready, but than again would probably be matched up against Garrick).
5. RTS

7. Boyd
8. Fish
9. Egan
10. Demetric
11. Leka (only concern with Leka dont think he can play full 80. Ford can but he also geta butter fingers sometimes.
12. Laban he ready let him develop.
13. Clark (good in trial)
14. Walker (had energy off bench)
15. Barnett (we struggle when both fish and barnett are off. Havinf barnett of bench ensures we have one on field every time)
16. Capewell (cant play full 80 but id say would give tou value off bench and cover outside back. Niukore pisses me off too much.
17. Healey

Honestly im writing this after many beers deep so it probabky dont make sure but yea. We need to change something otherwise manly will rinse us

TMM defends on wing and floats in attack. Niukore, CHT, Ford and Pompey can work their way back playing at Cabramatta Sport and Recreational Ground and the like for a few months. Blood the kids now, half this squad CNK included, are passed the used by date!

No chance of happening with Mr Conservative, man of my word, nice guy, I just hope he takes command of this team in 2025. After today 500-1 to make the 8!

I think we need to stick with that halves pairing, they were shocking today but that is probably the best bet for the future. Although CHT needs to play first receiver more. CHT doesn't have the speed to be chiming in at second receiver, the play just breaks down because he just shuffles it on. It takes away CHT's biggest strength of squaring up the line and Metcalf's biggest strength in cutting defenses with his speed. I've swapped them in 6 and 7. Metcalf can still call the shots from 6. Honestly as i'm writing this I'm seriously starting to question Webster's coaching and selection ability.

Niukore and Ford honestly need to pay the price for that game. They were woeful. They cannot be picked next week.

I personally would drop Capewell but can understand the likelihood of AW dropping one of his senior leaders is close to nil, but he can't start and play big minutes any longer. He's a jersey grabber on defence now and on attack he offers absolutely nothing.

We desperately need finishing ability on the wing, which means Kali has to play for mine. It was so glaringly obvious how much we missed DWZ in that respect in the first half. If we don't make this change I think we'll struggle to score more than one try in any game.

The bottom line is this a very obvious bottom 4 team in my opinion. We may as well start to blood these young guys properly.

Would love this side, Kali provides much needed speed and footwork. And that back row is dynamic

We actually thought we were good because we smashed a Storm C team.
We got fucking dominated against the Raiders.
We could barely score when they were one man down.

Need size, he’s a limited player but we sure could have used Bunty against the Raiders. Manly forward pack isn’t quite as good as Raiders. I think Leka would do well against Ulakau’atu.

Having a ball playing fullback who can actually play both sides and not just the right might help our attack.

PICK A FUCKING 4 MAN BENCH AND ACTUALLY FUCKING USE IT………

I watched the replay after knowing the result so without the emotion and in my opinion we played ok and matched them for the majority of the match but lost due to offering 0 in attack.

Metcalf and CNK offered no structure. Complete one out running. Our 11/12/13 are tackle bots and offer nothing in attack. They should be the key attacking weapons. Too much experience and not offering enough on both sides of the ball. CHT I would give a minimal pass.

Swap Taine for Roger & you got me. Would have to stick basically to the same for a few games to build the sadly lacking confidence.
And I didnt think Pompey was our worst player either.Couple of mistakes but at least was trying hard.
