Easy!
Charnz is on 500k currently, and Roger is on 600k or so.

We can't have both of them on that kind of money after 2025 (and there's probably an argument that never should have happened originally).

UNLESS Roger gets an offer from Super League or rugby and leaves before the 2025 or 2026 year, I would:

  • Buy Mulitalo for 2026 for around $600k
  • Let go Pompey, and sign CNK on around 300k as that back up outside back/centre
  • Play Roger at fb for 2025/2026 with a view that who ever will take over (Tauapiki or new recruit) at fb will be introduced in 2025, getting more game time in 2026 before taking over from 2027.
For 2026 you've then got a back 3 of:
RTS/Tauapiki
DWZ
Mulitalo
It’s interesting because the titans forum is convinced that Warriors are going to pursue Keano Kini. I’m not sure if someone has heard something, but seems like it’s just speculation? I just can’t see it with Tuaupiki seeming so similar? Perhaps Tony Martin is right and they transition Tuaupiki to halfback? That’s 2 small bodies to carry though

Hard to teach an Old Dog new tricks. I don't think he is our best fullback option either though so what do you do with him?
I think Fullback play has changed so much since he was last in the game. Its a position that does so much defensively and does require a really solid level of distribution on attack. I just dont think Roger has the majority of the skillset to do it week in week out in todays game.

CNK's super power is yardage. We have lost our best yardage forward. I think AW will keep CNK at FB in 2025 just because of that.
I'm not usually a fan of playing people out of position... u
It's probably based on the logic he is a good young Kiwi player so we'd naturally be somewhat interested. Doubt we'd be able to nab him, but would take him over TT 100 times out of 100.
.. on a 10y deal

Do you have the link on the titans forum

This; They are much the same player, but Keano has faster wheels, twice the FG games, and is 5 years younger.

I reckon Dez will be smart enough to extend him in the coming months, especially since I imagine the Bears will be in the market next November and the Tits will want to stop them from getting in his ear.

Taine is off contract at the same time though, and last time we had a Northcote Jr out the back, it was pretty sweet too lol, would be more than happy to bring him back home

Side note, It's a bit mental that the Titans had all four of Taine, Keano, Brimson, and Campbell not even that long ago. It reminds me a bit of the Rabbitohs having Api Koroisau, Cam McInnes and Luke Keary all covering hooker for Issac Luke.

My unpopular opinion about Taine is that he's a 'nearly man'.

He looks good in a lesser competition in the Cup team, but in his limited NRL experiences he's looked dangerous and has made a load of half breaks, but he doesn't seem to have the outright pace off the mark to cruise through a gap. I don't think Taine would have scored the try he did against a tiring Tonga pack.
Will this improve the more NRL he is exposed to? Potentially? A lot of those quick, nippy blokes like Keano, Campbell, RW, Talagi, Paps are all explosive and from day one, were able to showcase this. I don't think we've seen that from Taine unfortunately

Still think Charnz can fit like a glove replacing Tohu & Walker at 13 in 2026, experienced, aggressive, passionate, durable, fast for a forward, workhorse and can distribute and score himself, cost 400-500K instead of spending 700-950K to buy a lock

Like, what is our option when Walker and Tohu are done? Clark apparently is a prop now, are we really moving Barney there?

Pasikala on development maybe and upgrade MGT would make a good winger?

I like the idea. But realistically how would he hold up to that role physically?
He is already holding up physically attack wise isn't he? He is a hitup merchant.
Defensively I think he would be OK, his tackling is good, his decision making on an edge is the only iffy part of his defence and he wouldn't be on an edge

It’s a tricky one because you have to wonder whether the Warriors wanted to see something extra, perhaps defensive from him before committing and promoting? Have to remember he was Queensland Cup player of the year in 2022, a year that had other players like Khan Periera coming through and have managed to stay in the titans first grade team. Interesting Trai Fuller was named Queensland Cup player of the year last year, a player I think who’s similar

Charnz will probably enjoy hitting it up the middle and making tackles there compared to running 300m per game on top of roaming at the back on defense, and taking 2 tackles from kick returns per set when he’s 30 y/o

Locks are usually a combination of distributor and big body. CNK isn’t really known as either. Also being a hit up merchant is probably a lot easier when you arent having to make any tackles.
