I think if we had Barnett healthy we could win the whole comp this year with Boyd and CHT

And I think even without Barnett that we are a smokey in the playoffs. Some of the Aussie pundits think we are the real deal and are calling us "the battlers". No team in the playoffs will be happy to match up against us. We are a gnarly little team AND we have been playing play off football all year while other teams like Broncos having been playing run and gun.

I respect your view though and it is a fair one.

This 2025 Warriors is better than the 2023 Warriors even though 2023 had Shaun Johnson in career best form.
Thats one of the most ludicrous calls I’ve ever heard - win a comp with Tanah Boyd & CHT over Cleary, Hughes, Strange, Burton, before last night Sam Walker, Munster???

That duo and our fullback are lucky to rate in the top 10 spines. Spines are usually the catalyst to winning a premiership. Name the last ‘average’ spine that won the comp.

Wow 3 pages of Metcalf debate based on a post from someone on coke across the ditch 😂

We offer him 2-3 years market price that’s not Dylan Brown ridiculous and if he doesn’t like it we keep him for 26 and Jye Linnane debuts mid-season and will be his clone at 7 in 27. Easy

What Metcalf has shown is that Webby can turn a young fast Aussie with big game temperament into a potential dally m winner within 30 games, not the other way around
I think i’ve read somewhere Mitch Moses praising his time under Webby whilst at Wests.. I really think he is a gun halfback coach..

I’d trust Webby to get the most out of Jye, considering how SJ and Metcalf have gone under him.

Surely no one realistic thinks he can be his brother? The brother is possibly the best ever so....

There are two things I care about, one is that we do not waste too much of our time on someone that is very likely to piss off the Penrith as soon as Dad asks.

The other is that if the very unlikely happens and Cleary stays, that he is happy and thriving.

I don't actually give a stuff if he ends up being rubbish. I take it all at face value. I guess I am very sceptical about the Cleary signing and will not waste my emotional investment in a player that is most likely
those anointing Cleary as the savior are jumping the gun, dude hasn't done shit yet. He might. But he is getting pumped up because his brother is good. He is on nowhere near the same trajectory as Nathan. Not yet anyway

Oh please, the kid can play. How many games have you watched him play since Flegg to NSW Cup? 2-3 tops

I can see that.

My post wasn't actually a critique of him as a player. I saw his best game, he has something.

I was more agreeing with the op that it is silly to expect Nathan level.

Anything is possible, he could become the next thing in the game, but to expect it is foolish.

It was more the ‘he has done shit’ comment which raised my ire Sup. He has developed a lot this season, over seasons past.

Metcalf is here for 2926 no matter what. He is a man of honour and will not request an early release if he gets a Nov 1 2027 season offer from the Dragons or someone else.
As far as 2027 goes let's bank on Jett or Linnne or Thompson for 2027.

The other thing I want to note is that we are closer to having two elite halves than most people think.
If CHT stays healthy then I really think 2025 has been a breakthrough season for him and he is the answer at stand off.

CHT has 17 try assists and 8 tries in 21 games. Those are elite numbers based on different benchmarks I have run and better stats than either Fogarty or Strange have put up this year. Chanel is ranked 7th in NRL for try assists. The only stand off beating him is Munster - the other five guys are half backs who get more touches.

Because I think CHT is the answer we only need a half back. Somebody will emerge if we let Metcalf walk.

I would rather take Metcalf's $1M and give it to Tino.

I don't mind people who have said let's make a realistic offer and he either takes it or he doesn't. That is very similar to letting to him walk.
So where you going to play Barnett, fish & Clark? Our forwards are not the issue. We’ve also got the best young forwards in the competition coming through, all a year older in 2026. We don’t need Tino.

Others have watched him more closely than I have, but anyone claiming that Jett Cleary is destined to be an elite NRL half is just having a wild guess at this early stage. He's had some fantastic moments in Cup and has an impressive winning percentage of 78% but the 14 games he hasn't played in they won at 94%. How he performs in the NSW Cup playoffs will be a better gauge than the likes of yesterday's match against the Eels reserves who were missing regulars in Volkman, Hands and Joey Lussick.

Kieran Foran, Kodi Nikorima & Alan Langer all had siblings who played professionally but none came close to their brothers achievements.

Lock Metcalf up for 2027 at the very least ASAP!

At least this chat is timely with the new "straight up" video coming out i think tommorw. And with it focusing on how barnett and metcalf are recovering. It should be at least another page of content seeing as it adds evidence to the stay, or go sides of the our hung parliament.
