He's still early on in his career so they will still be managing his minutes.

The Leiataua vs Berry debate is interesting. Berry on form does a lot of the little things. Runs good lines and leads the kick chase. Leiataua if you can get him decent ball can cause the opposition problems.

Both guys are also only just back from injury and short of football. It is one guy just back from injury and could improve on his last performance vs a guy who has been out for a long time and has been struggling with his hamstring since he's come back.

I saw some comments in the post match thread about Metcalf yelling at Halasima and Leiataua to get into position to support. Maybe he's sent back to 💙 Mighty NSW Cup with some work ons. He was quiet on the weekend.

Looks like the NSWRL captain has been shared between Going and the guys coming back from NRL throughout the season.
I'm guessing Boyd will take on captaincy for Round 13.

Will be interesting to see if Leiataua has some form again with Tuaupiki on the field. Tuaupiki not on the wing as he was in first grade, but these two have got something cooking I reckon. DWZ really needs to come back to some form and I think they’ll be hoping Berry can provide that. Tuaupiki was found out on the wing against cowboys, but held his gloves up. Think Leiataua and Tuaupiki as a centre/wing pairing have the better attack but Berry and DWZ have the better defensive, even if DWZ has issues at times flying in when not necessary

Problem is how buggered and broken he looks at times in doing it. There’s no doubt he’s amazing at what he does and we put a huge workload on our back 5, particularly fullback. He’s 100% solid but I don’t see him as much of an attacking threat for us with his lack of speed. He has a tackle break in him but doesn’t have that threat that he had in 2023 when he was linking up so well with DWZ on the right and both were scoring tries from it. Hope it doesn’t come across as I’m knocking him because I love the guy and how much he loves the club and that shows through in how he plays
 
CNK is the ideal type of FB in the penrith meta system we are adopting. Similar to a Dylan Edwards at Penrith or a Tracey at the Bulldogs. I wouldn't say Edwards or Tracey are particularly fast either (especially if you compare to a Papenhuyzen or a Keano Kini). But like CNK they have a high work rate and defensively strong which are the most important attributes to this system. Both sides still build fair attacking shapes around them.

We need a younger CNK, but we've got what we've got. Given our performance last week it feels criminal TT isn't in the squad. DWZ was shit, CNK was pretty shit, RTS was fine. TT creates points which our halves are not great at doing (Dally M table is INSANE). We only conceded 16 points to the raiders, should have been enough to win.

Really hope DWZ has warmed up and comes out firing this week.

Personally I think TMM to 6 and CHT to 14 is WAY better than what we've selected. Neither of our halves can attack the goal line effectively all year, somehow Metcalf creates more threat at the half way line. Give TMM a crack to unlock our attack and CHT is much better cover at 14 than TMM.

Forward pack though, fuck yeah. Barney and Fish last week and we win by 6 no doubt.

Im a huge fan of Tuaupiki (TT), feel like he needs to be in the team somewhere (my personal pref is 6), But 100% he should be starting over DWZ. Watching the game (and every home game) live, I can see why CNK gets the nod, he is just so safe and a workhorse. Rog and TT would drop the odd ball as apposed to CNK that is as safe as it gets. Just very little spark from the back.

DWZ wrist injury looked to have concerned him hugely too. He was holding it in alot of pan for a while.

So aside from TT to DWZ's spot, I agree on TMM to 6 and CHT to 14. 14 is almost as important to the team. Like the bulldogs who are top of the table, but not afraid to swap players as they know come GF they need more to beat the Storm (likely opposition - but could be any of 6 teams really). Webby needs a bit of this mentality. Hes going amazing, foundation is there.. we just need a bit more icing as our attack is very limited.
