KEY KNIGHTS STAR SUFFERS HAMSTRING INJURY

Newcastle have been dealt a blow with in-form back-rower Dylan Lucas suffering a hamstring injury.

It is understood Lucas hurt himself at training on Wednesday afternoon and will be ruled out of Saturday night’s match against Gold Coast. He will be given until Friday afternoon to prove his fitness.

Young Jermaine McEwen may be the replacement for Lucas.

It is hoped the injury is not major with the Knights having the bye next week it should mean he is right to play the Bulldogs in round five.

The Knights are already without forwards Leo Thompson (knee) and Kai Pearce-Paul (suspended).

At least i can stop looking at fantasy early this round considering every match up will be a loss. He also got dropped onto his shoulder... Makes me wounder if i should change a trade this week to save for a cleary to haas switch. But will be about a 100k difference after this.

I captained Haas* :D

Hoping Cleary isn't injured though.
*don't be a jinx

Well Cleary was my captain so GG to Tookey who changed his captain to Haas before the game.

I hope fantasy switches to an 18th man system next year like Super coach has.

How does the 18th man system work?
Wouldn't have saved me in this case apparently.

1) Super coach this year has 26 players instead of 25
2) You appoint one of them each week to be 18th man
3) You drop your lowest score in your 17 players and replace them with the 18th man score. So in this case if you had Nathan Cleary's 5 points it would be replaced by whoever is your 18th man's score.
4) if the replaced player was your captain then unfortunately the VC does not take over captaincy. So the advice is to pick a very reliable player as your captain with regards to head knocks and pulling out of the game with injuries etc.
5) VC only replaces captain if captain scores a zero.

With the head knock situation I was going to switch the captaincy from Cleary to Ponga, but decided last minute not to because of Ponga's history with them. He'll probably go on to score 80 this week.

I have learned a valuable lesson from this - it is not just "who is going to be my highest scorer" it is whether they can be an iron man and get through the game unscathed. In Cleary's case he pulled out of several games last year with hamstring issues. He is not an iron man. Ponga is also not an iron man so you were right not to pick him. I think a tough forward like Haas or Yeo is the way to go or of course Terrell May. I will be picking a top scoring iron man from now on. Lesson learned.

Maaan I was a bit buzzed when the game started and was gutted to see Cleary get injured. I checked the Fantasy scores and was surprised to see I had Haas as captain.

Really unlucky Wrighty!
I know it sucks, but over the last 4 years Cleary has been comfortably the best performing player in Fantasy so I wouldn't change your strategies too much, it looks like Cleary has only played less than 40min 5 times out of his 175 games, which is pretty good going

Thanks Tookey. You are a good man!! I chuckled to read your sub conscious mind had switched the C to Haas.

Do I take Cole's 36 or loop in Sandon Smith
Personally, I'd take smith out of the two. But Sandon smith has had two tries to pump his score an extra 8 points in the last two games. Minus the tries both scores would be in the 30s.

Unfortunately for me I don't have smith and I'm contemplating weather to take coles 36 or risk Iongi again against the dogs. I'll probably take coles 36 because Iongi doesn't look like he's close to getting 36 watching the last couple games.
