NRL NRL 2025 General Recruitment Thread

Not really to do with recruitment, though Christian Tuipolotu is off contract at the end of the year but nrl 360 was a hard case with how Flanagan is banning Tuipolotu’s try celebration. Is a bit odd how he goes so hard even when they’re losing, but his boy also does one where he rocks a baby when he scores. Flanagan not helping himself in the nepotism stakes. Going to be interesting to see how dragons get on with recruitment. Ben Hunt copped some blame for how he departed, but Flanagan’s recent comments around Lachlan Ilias doesn’t give the impression that Flanagan is in your corner as a player

Flanagan has also been protective of his son when he's been coached by other coaches. Then goes hard on Ilias. It was a good point raised on NRL 360 that his Sharks side were experienced and all players that could take it. That was 10 years ago now compared to this Dragons side. You hear a lot how players now are different to other eras in regards to how the coaches need to treat them. Flanagan is competitive but might be from the wrong era. Time will tell.

A lot of movement in the market for only being two rounds in.

The Molo situation sorted itself out quickly. I suppose its understandable as he wants to get back on the field. I can't recall (might have been NRL360) where I saw it and all of the clubs listed were Sydney based then it was mentioned the speculation was Queensland. That ended up spot on.

Let's hope Bennett can get Brandon Smith going. It will be good for the Kiwis to have some depth with Marshall-King, Smith and Crossland.

Tigers forum reckons that tigers will be offering Lachlan Galvin $6 million for a 5 year deal

Do we think they can afford that?

Bula and Api on 700k each, Luai on 1.2mil.

That would mean 3.8mill spent on 4 players, over 30% of their cap.

Add in Turuva and May and that's another 1.1mil, so 4.9mill on 6 players lol. Madness I say

Edit: To put that into perspective, the other 26 players in the squad essentially are averaging less than 300k per player.

Tallyn Da Silva in a lot of teams sight too. He won’t be cheap to keep and Koriasau getting older

SHOOSH

Which million-dollar forward (it’s not hard to guess who) is fighting to save his career at an NRL club after a sluggish start to the season? He is free to negotiate with rival clubs from November but will be offered an early release unless his form picks up.

He’s signed until 2027 and a mutual option for 2028 and the rumour says the player can negotiate from November either way. Fifita signed for 2026 at titans, so can negotiate from November. Really good chance it’s him I reckon
