NRL NRL 2025 General Recruitment Thread

Can somebody tell me who they have on thier books that's ready to take Evans spot? Don't tell me that's Brooks.

Are they mad?

Unless they are going to go hard for Galvin?
SEA EAGLES

First-choice: Daly Cherry-Evans, Luke Brooks

Back-up: Jake Arthur, Joey Walsh, Tom Trbojevic, Dean Matterson*, Brandon Wakeham*

Analysis: DCE remains rock-solid, though his future will be a talking point all season at age 36, while Brooks proved a decent foil last year en route to his first finals appearance. Arthur is a solid but unspectacular bench option, while Walsh represents the future; the former Australian Schoolboys rugby union captain/flyhalf is starting a three-year deal and oozes class. Trbojevic is a potential wildcard should his rickety body demand that he make a shift from fullback, where Lehi Hopate is waiting to take over. Matterson got a start at No.6 in both of Manly’s trials, while former Bulldog and Tiger Wakeham would make for a remarkable comeback tale should he crack an NRL return, in the wake of dismissed drug supply charges that followed a dramatic arrest outside Brookvale Oval.

Amd they let Humphries go! 😂

I don't know wtf they need DCE for when they have Walker

Or, if the angle is giving Walker a mentor, how much more does he possibly need?? He's already got 77 games of experience; He's had Keary for 4 years, Townsend this year, Cronk has been their halves coach the whole time he's been there, and that's before mentioning literally 23 years of mentoring from his dad and uncles lol

Get the feeling they’re after someone to guide Sam Walker into becoming a game manager? They went after SJ, Ben Hunt and got Townsend and apparently keen on DCE. Could be too that there’s a hope to replicate what they did getting Cooper Cronk?
A great half does not make a championship winning team.

Tedesco is ancient, their pack has lost the fear factor and aggression. Their backs (bar Topou) are average.

They are really in a bit of a rebuild phase and DCE seems like shuffling the deck chairs instead of a long term master plan.

They have two versions of their pack. Their A squad including Butchers, Leniu radley.... and their B squad of young rookies. The A squad is presently preferred and is the tired one you refer to - the B squad has been playing recently and is absolutely dynamic and full of talent.

Thought going into the season and even after round 1 that they were going to struggle, but I’m not convinced now. Still early in the season and hard to get a gauge, but I’m hoping their first victory over panthers in 6 years is more to do with panthers than roosters. A great halfback though is huge to a championship winning team to steer the team around, just like a strong forward pack is huge for a halfback to get the platform to lead the team around. Tedesco still a handful of a player despite coming into his final years. Reece Robson will be handy for them next year because they really made a mess of letting Verrills go for Brandon Smith

Good.

If any coach can get his head out of his arse its Bennett.

I hope for the Kiwi's sake he does get back to the best version we saw of cheese, as that version would add value to any team.
Must be a massive punter by the sounds. Was noise that borrowing money off teammates was part of some of the displeasure at roosters. Must be a tight prick if so because his salary wasn’t bad
