My glass is half full.
Top 4.
We seldom had anywhere close to the best of SJ, Tohu, CNK or Niukore last year.
SJ and Tohu have gone.
CNK has players IMO at least his equal challenging him.
Niukore was injury plagued and wrongly used as an edge when available.
So apart from the loss of AFB I don’t think we are any worse off.
Countered by;
To some degree by the signing of JFH.
The depth signings of Clark and
Boyd who have plenty of first grade under their belt.
The signing of Healey.
And the continued progression of our young guns Ali, Demetric, Leka and Laban.
TMM was a try assist freak without SJ.
Metcalf was looking likely.
Whoever partners Ali in the centres will be decent.
Roger probably to wing.
Finally a proper development programme from Harold Matt’s upwards.
A lot to like.
With Ford,
Bunty,
Ale CHT as possible options or back up we are not badly off.
Pasikala, Eddie I-T,
Zyon Maiu’u, Kali developing amongst others.
Webby needs to look at the Panthers and Dolphins wins in 2024 for the kind of variety and randomness of game plan for this squad to employ.
We have to be innovative to suit the strength of our players.
Just trying to copy the Storm or Panthers is not the go.
I’m not calling for Jungle ball.
I’m calling for Webster ball.
2024 was his year of conservatism.
We haven’t fallen into the trap of buying any experienced but past their best players or any morons like Brandon Smith.
And have many of the other teams really strengthened their rosters much if at all.
Just musical chairs to me.
