Sounded like a real character and not many around like him anymore.

I remember this old fella . This bloke & those of his age & old school values taught me so much. About being grateful for what you have & sharing it becaude there is always someone worse off than you. There aren't many of that generation left now & the world is poorer for it.
Must admit as a kid I didn't always heed the advice & at 55 if I give kids that advice I' m told to f'k off old man or I don't know what I'm talking about. Glad to have met you Mr Dawson.

Do you know where he sat at Mt Smart?

I actually met him when I was about 16 working in Auckland before the Mt Smart days. We did a bit or a repair on his windows as I recall. He was good for a chat in those days

I know the house as it's near my office - would of loved to have chatted with him.

So...dont know how or why...but the hat became available last week.. now sitting proudly on my work desk so people can see..go the wahs 2025!
