General Your 2025 team

Yeah I’d don’t get it aye. Despite be injured he still had VERY respectable output.

With AFB leaving, obviously we have an extremely good replacement in JFH. But he’s not the same type of player as AFB. There’ll be a gap in output.

The ONLY player on our roster (IMO) capable of making up the difference week in week out is…….. Tohu Harris

(NO, Erin Clark is not a replacement for Tohu, that’s madness, guy can’t even get a start at the Titans. You don’t think Tohu walks into the Titans at 13 last year? Come on)

Yes, he’s battered. But he’s had like an 8 month layoff. I’ll admit I’m sceptical of his fitness. But if he’s not, I don’t see us getting far this year.
We all need to Pray he comes right.

Hes was good for 4 games and then fell off a cliff. During those 4 games we went 2-2, so not sure he made the difference week in week out then. Plus he looked slow and lethargic the entire season. To be of value he needs to recapture his 2023 form. Big call for a will-be 33yr old on ~900k.

My biggest problem with him was the lack of speed off the ground in PTB.
Way too slow

Erin played first grade the whole time he was at the Titan barring injuries

According to the “league live” app

The for 6 games of 2024 our record was 3 wins, 2 losses and a draw against manly.

The least he ran for was 127m against the Rabbitohs, we smashed them btw.
Ok, he had an average game, cost us the (potential) win against Manly. Missed a few tackles as well.
And we were unlucky against Melbourne.

So really, we could have been 5 and 1 with a bit of luck.

Is this an assessment of an elite level player (which Tohu is) vs average NRL player?
What are you expecting from the guy?

Who would you suggest takes that 13 jersey?
Please don’t say Walker or Clark they’re 14s
If Tohu can’t do it, I’d honestly move away from the “ball player” and I’d throw Jackson Ford at 13 as my “workhorse” and inject Walker or Clark as needed

I agree. I would love to see a peak 2023 Tohu run out. I just think age beats all men. If we have to move away from a ball playing 13 then so be it.

So? In response to your comment that Erin couldn’t crack the Titans team.

it’s definitely things like this. Plus Iike Barnett, his lateral movement is severely limited these days.
I agree with all of this…..
And I’ve also said that I’m sceptical of his fitness. I’m hoping with a long layoff he comes right.

My POINT…….. is that despite all that, he’s still our best option at 13…

Or else who then?
Walker? Pretty much had that last year.
Clark? Guy who couldn’t beat Isaac Liu to start at the Titans. Tohu rips that jersey from Liu……

Unless, you’re suggesting that we ditch the “ball player” from round 1. Or early in the year.
I’m actually for that btw, start the season with Tohu and if it doesn’t work out move towards a “workhorse” 13.

Jackson Ford……

Again what are you talking about
Erin started ahead of Liu in all the games I remember.
Liu was a shadow of his former self in 2024 and came off the bench certainly second part of the year. Erin did come off the bench but played far bigger minutes than Liu

Aw fair enough, admittedly I don’t watch the Titans. I just looked at their last couple of games of the season and their games against us. And coincidentally Liu started and Clark was on the bench.

Regardless, my points still stand.
You think Tohu Harris doesn’t start for the Titans?
And is Erin better than Tohu? No…….

If you think someone is better, who and why?

I am neutral on who starts 13 if Tohu is fit healthy and Aw picks him fine
But don’t bag Erin he s a great player again where he fits is up to Aw
I live on the Gc go to every titans home game and every away game on tv
I was traumatised for a while after they beat the Warriors by 60 odd as the Warriors are my team since 95 but living here Titans are second

Just for the record, I’m actually happy with the Erin Clark signing. And I certainly feel he has a role to play in the future.
I just don’t think he’s a replacement for Tohu Harris. Two completely different class of player.

As bleak as the season looks at this point to the glass is half empty brigade (I am in this brigade as I think Tohu and CNK are cooked yet it will take most of the season for us to learn this definitively ) It is not as bad as 2019 when the team van got broken into and Stephen Kearney was beside himself that they stole all our training props and pads.

There's been much bleaker times, and you've seen enough ups and downs by now to know it could go either way Wrighty, you can't keep claiming you're new to league forever.

You wouldn’t have Tohu or CNK in your 17 based on 2024 form.
They both should have been rested/dropped when it was painfully obvious they were struggling part way into the season.
Their solid stats are only that. Nothing more.
Hoping they are injury free and refreshed and put themselves into consideration for a round 1 spot.
Issue is I don't think we really had that luxury. Harris only played 14 games and only 5 of those for the full 80 mins with a record of 5-1-8 with him playing. CNK had a record of 5-1-11 and should have come back raring to go as he was out with a hammy issue until round 5. Taine played the first 3 games until he got concussed and was ruled out then CNK took back over as soon as he was fit enough.

Webster said in an interview towards the end of the season he was having to pick players even if their form was poor due to not really having another option. With Tohu out we were missing a critical part of the team with his ball playing being top notch in 2023 giving another point of attack. It also dulled Dylan Walkers impact on games with him playing lock the whole game instead of being able to come on and lift the speed of the game through the middle with his ball-playing and the way he quickened up around the ruck play.

I think basically just about everything that could go wrong this year did and then on top of that we weren't winning the small moments with giving away dumb yardage penalties for no reason.

Also a note on Fisher-Harris Vs. AFB - they're completely different players. Fisher-Harris goes for the hard hit-ups, hit the ground on his front and go for a quick PTB whereas AFB uses his footwork and size to gain more meters up the field and be a threat at the try-line as well. AFB I think is the top prop in the game currently with his threat at the line and how often he is able to score tries but JFH is more a team-first type of player and knows what it takes to win week in week out.

Most Titans fans I have seen are a bit gutted to lose him as a 13, which is always a good sign.

Can see Tohu playing a bench prop role next season on limited mins. Clark to start and take some of the sting out at Lock, then Walker come on and play through the middle seems a good combo and reasonably logical.

Much like what we saw Tohu/Walker doing in 2023, just a different style with Clark.

Wouldn't Clark just take Jazz’s role, first prop (despite the size) off the bench.

I think he’ll be good for us, certainly lifted against us, we laughed at their middle rotation of two converted hookers (clark and randall) in the 60 point loss, they cucked our much bigger and highly rated forwards - Clark had 187m in 47 minutes

In the anzac game he had 138m off the bench.

Clark, Walker and Demetric seem like locks for the bench – that’s pretty dynamic.

Last spot is either a specialist hooker or edge sub.

I believe that Andrew Webster will go with a conservative approach and go with the guys who he knows and trusts.

1, CNK
2, dwz
3, Berry
4, Pompey
5, RTS
6, TMM - possibly new recruit - Boyd - as we need a long field kicker
7, Metcalf
8, JFH
9, Egan
10, Barnett
11, Capewell
12, Ford
13, Tohu
14, Lussick
15, Walker
16, Clark
17, Niukore

I hope I'm wrong as this won't work.
