There were rumours he was injured, not sure of validity.
Yeah I don’t believe it otherwise they would have said so and not disciplined him. He looked ok during the game and wasn’t struggling.

I reckon Webby hooked him after the Tuapiki try and it pee’s him off. He wasn’t there on the field to celebrate after the game so packed a sulky… he looked ok on D but wasnt demanding the ball for hit ups

An interesting debate. At first glance well it should be the Panthers game as they are the 3 time champions and it feels like it has been forever since we beat them. Then the Dolphins game had the AFB drama leading into the game then two players pulled on game day. So a weakened team was weakened even further.

The Panthers game was classed as a "home" game. But it was still done away from MT Smart which traditionally is a struggle. This side in 2023 and 2024 have looked pretty good in Australia. You could argue they have been better in Australia on the drier tracks.

The Panthers game also halted our losing streak which looked like the boys confidence was spiralling downwards pretty hard.

The Panthers may have been off but we had a terrible start and it looked like it would be an easy day for them. They turned over a lot of ball but a lot of it was our boys hitting them on the ball.

I'd lean more towards the Panthers game as it gave the boys their confidence back. Enabling them to back it up the following week against the Dolphins.

this thread seems premature. If we keep playing the way we have the last 2 weeks, we will have more games that are worthy for this discussion.
The Penrith game has set the bar. And it’s high. I think the Dolphins win came close. Real close

I hope you’re right though and there’s more games to come that will topple this achievement but for now the Penrith game tops the list.

My question then is where it stands in Warriors history. Does it beat the game against the Tigers with Kris Inu’s miracle try on FT or SJ’s dummy fool on Cronk that got us to the GF against the Storm?… these finals victories have more street cr but this game is packed with so much happening both on and off the field

Is it better than the comeback win against Cronulla lastvyear or the Canberra game ? I Think so.. 🤔

There's also that game in 2016 when cappy sacked an entire first grade team and somehow we beat the dragons who were going well at the time. We've had many memorable wins. I just think this thread should be postponed till the end of the season. The 2024 highlight reel hasn't been finished yet.

if we are rating upset wins, then just given the fact they were prelim & sudden death finals games for us, it’s difficult for me to go past the 2011 SJ to Lewis Brown try game & the 2008 Michael Witt try game as our two greatest performances. I’m prob biased because I was at both however the feeling that came from witnessing those games & winning moments at the end will live with me forever.

The week before in 2011 against the Tigers was probably less about being an upset & more about overcoming adversity of the refs - I didn’t agree that we were getting cheated by refs last season, however I have no doubt the Tigers were ‘meant’ to win that game back in 2011. The look on the refs face when Inu scored was priceless.

It's good to Celebrate two memorable wins, especially when we have been losing.
We have a bye this week so starting some discussion around that is great, the season hopefully has more but when we look back we will be able to point to the Panthers win as that turning point.

I voted Dolphins. They were in top 4 leading up to the game and play a good expansive game. At 10 nil down, we might have given it up but we fought back very well (I thought we were hard done by in not being awarded a try from the kick just before half time). The main factor, of course, was the absence of four of our top players and positional changes from the Panther's game (two on the eve of the game).

I was at the game (2005?) when we played the Bulldogs at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington. We scored three fantastic tries in the last ten minutes and Stacey J missed the last conversion just to the right of the posts that would have won us the game. This was in the era of no golden point and we definitely had the momentum.

Oh yeah I was there as well, 16 points in almost no time, great comeback

To me, both wins on par with each other... our depth players sent a rocket up the injured regulars asses ... as if to say, we can do it, so pull your bloody fingers out when you get back...
Dragons without Ben Hunt got over the panthers last night, though without many more players out for origin than when we played them. With the amount of our players out and them really only without Cleary and May as their starting team, that’s super impressive. Dolphins was good too because they would have been prepared after our result the week before. Could be a few teams with aging playmakers looking at how the future looks at their clubs. I’ll be watching with interest at how SJ relinquishes the reins so everything isn’t going through him on his return, he leads the comp in some stats even missing a couple of games but if results don’t fall our way on his return, there’s some real questions need to be asked. He has the most to prove in my eyes

Vs Dragons

5 new faces from the week before

In:
Niukore
CHT
MGT
Lussick
Kosi

Out:
AFB
CNK
Tuapiki
Egan
Ali

Definitely a much weaker team on paper with MGT making his debut….

Last minute drop outs from Berry, CNK and Taine just added to the misery for fans before the game.. not to mention the drama around AFB throughout the week..
