On kick chase? And DWZ is right next to him when he does that but still takes his hit ups and makes his metres How big is DWZ?
Ok my mistake, by size I am including effectiveness and ability for hit ups. DWZ also chases but Berry is often pushing to be in that 2nd and 3rd tackle out of marker as well.

Make it simple, would you rather a CNK/DWZ take there 7th hit up or Rocco his 2nd. I want the most value for the run. If our outsides and middles are completely gassed and can't attack or defend as a result then there is more of an argument.

Agreed, I'd rather the workload was shared a little more so players like CNK and DWZ don't have to do quite as much hitting the ball up. So has Berry reached his potential output? Effectively a kick chaser? Are there others that can do that and more? Would a Pompey left centre, RTS right centre do more for the team than a Pompey/Berry or an RTS/Berry combo?

They would in terms of meters gained. I think Berry is still ahead of Pompey in attack and defence (not by a huge amount). But I think Pompey has shown his ceiling is a bit meh where Berry is still growing.

Has Lussick had a single game as good as Roache's? I can't recall one.
When we ran the Storm close on ANZAC Day 2023 he put in a 53 tackle, 28m, 1 Try Cause, Zero Error & 1 Forced Drop Out performance.
Quality of pass can't be measured though but statistically it trumps Roache's 37 tackles, 20m, 1 Try Cause & 1 Error at the weekend.
Roache exceeded my expectations on Sunday and could have a higher ceiling out of the two but we'll have to wait & see

That's actually a very fair question.

Looks like the back 5 are all getting 100+m per game except Rocco.

Last 4 games:

vs Dragons 8 runs for 67m
vs Titans 6 runs for 43m
vs Knights 7 runs for 59m
vs Roosters 10 runs for 75m

he has 3 games over 100m this season out of 10 played. 2 in the first 2 rounds. the only other one in the extra time game against Manly

I know there is a lot of love for Rocco but is he being found out a little this season?
There was an article that said Berry hadn’t played this many games in a row before. To me he’s been physically burnt out and his running meter output has tapered off as well as the comments creeping in about his form in other areas (missed tackles, errors). He’s not recovering between games to maintain his potential (as shown in the first few weeks of the season).

This is what MrFrankWhite MrFrankWhite and sup42 were talking about. The younger guys and the need to recover from an NRL workload.

A random hand injury that took a week off to heel? Maybe Webster gave him time to get himself right again…

Thats what Webby SHOULD be doing. YEah itll cause disruptions, but 1) good teams get over it, 2) rest some hurt bodies and finally 3) give some 1st grade reps to juniors.

Someone else posted we are terrible at blooding youth. We either delay and deny experience, throw lambs to the wolves, or just ignore a bloke for 2 seasons only to find out hes got genuine skills but your top 30 is already balanced..

It is an old song of mine, been playing it for years too, the Warriors are terrible with developing Juniors.

We seem to have made progress there under Webster. Even with a lot of it being injury forced, Webster has still been making some big calls compared to past Warriors coaches.

I seriously doubt whether many if any coaches past would have given Taine Tuaupiki the gig and run him when Webster had the option of moving Dallin to Fullback, or TMM instead of an unproven small greenhorn.

He also persevered with Berry till that came right. He did give Ali Leiataua a debut marking a guy who was in his 300th testimonial match.

Ale and Laban have been getting a fair suck of the Sav, though the latter has been more loaded towards injury cover.

I am super glad for Websters a greenhorn injury forced side beat Penrith...just think how that will impact on Websters decisions moving forwards, the confidence it will instill in him to take risks.

We do have to remind ourselves that Webster is a greenhorn himself, as such, there will be periods in his tenure where he needs to be allowed to try things even when they are not working. All part of growth.

I am just glad that the Warriors no longer make the next kid up play Wing when they are a center or a fullback, like they did with Locke, Fisiahi etc.

Total waste of time and gutless move, give them a shot in their specialist role and suck up teething problems, like Sticky did with CNK at Fb....let him hold his spot on debut after a couple of shit games for the Raiders first up.....consider that CNK at the Warriors was a promising junior who got bounced back and forward between wing and Center to plug holes, same old dumb Warriors....so he said nah, don't want your contract extension, I am off to follow Cappy.

Pompey/RTS since Dallin has being marked with our loop plays and the gaps seem to be in the midfield, like what Taine did for his try, RTS could be an asset to finish those moves off as well. Or those Berry runs, teams are marking up now, but if RTS runs that line he might somehow get there. In saying that Berry did score with brute force in the home semi last year, but he needs to be fresh to do it

Berry and Ali can back up, like what they are doing now

Why was he named lol, hide the kid again?

If you name him then someone on the opposition gets 5 days to look at tape and pass on some tips to his opposite.

His opposite is Farnworth so it's going to be a handful regardless. But, bring him in on game day or 24 hours before and there is a lot less time for anyone to work out what the kid might do.

Edit:

Kosi is also named in the reserves. God I hope Montoya to centre and Kosi onto the wing is not the plan.

Nice, thanks for pulling that info. That was quite the performance! Where I felt like Roache excelled was our attack didn't seem to lose a step with Egan going off, which I feel traditionally happens everytime he goes down. That is hard to quantify though. We clearly need 3 hookers rostered with Egan getting ko'd every third game, so there is room.

Roache should make the bench at the very least. A huge reason we won that game was the service from him. Lussicks passes are just nowhere near as good. Hes good at soaking up the early onslaught with his defense but if we want quick ball to the edges hes not our guy. Bring Jazz an Roache on at the same time and with Walker raise the tempo. Blitzkrieg them.
