Two things are happening there, I think:
1. Berry favours a union back-style low tackle position around the knees which takes about 0.5 of a second longer to get the ball carrier to ground, or at least makes it look like the carrier is getting through when he isn't. DWZ seems to have not yet worked this out, and cramps in because he thinks Berry's missing his man. This enables a late offload from the tackled player into the gap that DWZ vacates. If DWZ just held his line, the tackled player wouldn't be able to make that offload - not outside anyway.
2. DWZ loves an intercept. The problem is that for every one he makes at the moment, three offloads are getting past him.

Also in the second half he stayed wide and Berry missed and try scored, that’s why I was thinking of giving Pompey a go on the right, shore up the tackling and give DWZ confidence to stay wide

loads of overreacting. we have a problem defending from penalties at the moment but we've also absolutely punished teams for the same. we've also had some lopsided counts, what can you do?
honestly it's just a bit of variance and possibly now after last year teams are more prepared for us. but realistically
1. vs sharks, we didn't get up for a game they really wanted. Our victory over them last year was the NZ sporting moment of the year. we got ambushed
2.. vs storm. miracle play stuff. better team lost
3. beat raiders
4. beat the knights in a close game statistically
5. punished the rabbitohs
6. drew against in form eagles. also manly got a few tinny tries (tommy turbo offloading to no one - deflecting off egan, DCE goes in... etc) and I think we saw the bunker interfere in real time for non foul play for the first and so far only time.
7. Dragons scored at least half their tries directly after piggy backs, play at 90%+ completion, go back to sucking the next week.
8. 3 of the titans tries come from soft defence and also, HIA call when we earned a broken line, trips and foul play unpenalised. also lol has the bunker ever denied a try for the play of the ball before?

We actually seem to score pretty easy when we get in position. It's just some defence and, imo, a bunch of bad luck at the moment. NRL is super competitive so it's gonna happen. it's frustrating but we don't suck. We're just a good side and now teams are expecting it. The hail mary offload stuff is tearing us up but it's low percentage play that we're just seeing come off. You can walk out the casino a winner every now and then but you keep coming back and the house always wins. In webby we trust

Giving away penalties and having individual brain farts on D, and we generally suck in the last 10 under pressure attack or D this season

I do like how they started with a lot of variations to bring RTS into the game, and this game showing Webby how to use the bench and hope they realize you can actually score by kicking in the red zone

Credit where it's due - we atleast tried something different with the Red Zone kicking.

Successfully too despite the error disallowing RTS try. Seemed to be a plan as TMM (poorly) attempted a few as well. That variety is encouraging and points to the coaches acknowledging we need more options on attack.

Would love to see RTS moved to the right and for us to put up a few more contestable ones from further out like Lomax

Just hopeful of a better balanced team once our squad becomes healthy….
Definitely requires lethal injection of Xfactor from our youngsters which they do have….
-CENTRE
-WING
-POWER RUNNING SECOND ROWERS….half way there wit Laban!!
& who knows they may also be mentally tough enough to thrive under pressure
Was so good to have walker back.

on 2nd reflection I think maybe Webby is seeing the same. Laban and Zyon Maiu’u playing, AFB getting more minutes, Tohu doing 60.
Yeah Webby had reduced AFB's minutes this far in what thought was an effort to adjust subconsciously to the void next season but, it seems at the detriment of Tohu's vitality particularly with so many injuries/absentees in the forward pack. Great opportunity to blood the youth brigade though as the season is long..

has tohu given an explanation on his challenge decision which we lost with less than a minute to go?

Man there’s been some dumbarse errors by your snr players over the last 3 weeks…
Because Montoya was yelling “challenge, challenge, challenge” at him and he listened. Regardless, with only 20 seconds to go in the half it was an extremely low percentage gamble!!!

Is it encouraging though? I felt
Like we had no other option, we’ve had no options for a a while now so let’s just kick and hope. When other teams do it we say “yea but they got lucky with some kick trys”

We should be competing for every high ball, look How many try’s are coming front them in other games. Not just on the the 5th tackle with no other option.

Shows how inept
We are.

Thing was before yesterday an attacking jumper was penalised as a disrupter, like Capewell when he he pulled his hands out of the way last week. This week not to be seen in any games? Jojo Fifita was a prime example in an attacking kick inside our goal

It's what we asked for wasn't it? More variety. It could have / should have delivered two tries.

I didn't see any aspect of kick and hope - it was a deliberate plan

I'm still struggling with the miscommunication late in the game Though . SJ was on a different page to anyone else - criminal stuff.

It pretty black and white to me. Make a deliberate and conscious effort and you get away with not touch the ball. Or make sure you either one hundred touch the ball or grab it in the air.

We seem to go for the Im either gonna take or or not attempt it at all option.

Back 3 again poor in the defensive stats, hard to blame CNK as the last line of defence but 33% tackle efficiency for CNK. Forwards missed a lot of tackles in this one too. Stats showed we were as good if not better than titans in many areas. One I was surprised at that they had the wood over us was kick metres, whether that was because we were kicking from further down the field than them often as we made more metres per set than them?

I was asking for it from our kick chasers. One of them to go up and challenge the winger on our last kick. Instead of just the run fast and apply pressure tactic that’s not working.

Great we had attacking kick in thier and p but how sad to see all other options absolutely disintegrate. Our structures attack is absolutely dead. And we have no in hand off the cuff stuff either.

That’s what I was sad about

We failed to neutralise their ptb. Two weeks ina. Row now. Was the same agains the dragons. Why is this team so fucking dumb? I hate our club for this reason. Play to the ref not the rules. If thier getting away with it you do the same. Fucking give away 5 set restarts, who cares you know the ref will stop giving them eventually and you win ruck ascendency.

How long have we been playing this game??? It infuriates the fuck out of me that we have never produced a cam amith or similiar player that is tactical superior.

Tohu is such a fucking horse but we’ve gotta stop picking captains on effort.

From what I’ve seen so far, RTS is very good in the air and Berry also with his height, then there’s a tall target in Laban now too. Winger aren’t short either, would like to see us pepper the goal line with kicks falling just short but mixing it up with a grubber here and there too
