Just saw on SEN League interview regarding Ben Hunt situation. A bit of hot goss was that Tanah Boyd had been spotted in Auckland.
Great news thanks for sharing. I would be stoked to get Tannah Boyd.

My halves targets I listed in my head two months ago were in preferred order

1) Dylan Brown - I absolutely think we start with tabling an offer to him. Let him say no then we move on to other prospects.
2) Tannah Boyd - Yes I had him ranked second.
Tannah is an elite goal kicker - while this year he was only 72% in years past he has been over 80% - 80% is up there. We need an elite kicker. it is critical to winning close games. He is a genuine number 7 while all our other guys are more suited at 6 even though Metcalf wants to become a 7.
He and Dylan Brown are both realistic options to target. Brown being a Kiwi Tannah Boyd because we can sell ourselves as a team going places relative to the Titans. Finally he is only 24.
3) Big Sexy

Any of those three and I am happy. I think we have a shot at them but if we don't get one of them then we are getting into the Jackson Hastings of this world and less desirable players.

Just trying to think a bit outside of the box here.

If we're looking at having a smaller fullback, could we revert TMM back there? That means we'd maximise his ball playing ability and his lack of a boot doesn't cost him anything from the back. And then it gives us the option of having LM and a kicking half like Tanah in the team.

My only caveat for this means that we wouldn't be able to play Tauapiki, as we'd likely need a big backline to make up for the lack of size TMM has when returning the ball. So likely a Roger, DWZ, Ali and CNK wing/centre combo.

For what it's worth, I would like to run with an Egan, TMM, LM, and Tauapiki spine, with a game plan where we don't need to rely on a long kick game (as that spine hasnt really got one)

Been thinking a bit about TMM fullback too recently? Really hard to see what our plan is from the outside, especially regarding TMM since he’s such a handy guy to have. Could easily carry him as a 14 being able to fill fullback, halves and I think he could handle dummy half if thrown into it. Interesting regarding Boyd with sea eagles in negotiations with him apparently. Looks a surfer and a young family with dogs looking at his instagram so a shift this far would need to be worth it? Manly beaches seems the ideal place for him?

Apparently Hunt and his mrs have brought a house in Byron Bay. Titans could be the destination, they’ve also got Tom Weaver off contract that many have been wondering about
He bought that almost a couple of years ago. Its profitable to have houses in that area (Bangalow about 12 kms from Byron roughly) as they command very good airbnb rates. So may just be an investment.
Its not practical to commute from that area to Parkwood GC titans training facilty just a touch too far.
Weaver s not a bad player either.
Tanah Boyd be a good back up half behind a dominant NZW forward pack.

So I agree. Better than nobody
Basically this. He is NRL standard and as someone posted even if you rate TMM and Metcalf ahead of him - how long before one or both get injured. We need 4 halves.
As they say on Oprah Winfrey show he doesn't need to Mr Right he just needs to be Mr Right now.

Your our guy it seems for hearing things on other forums. Can you keep an ear trained on Boyd. I am dissapointed to hear he may get snapped up by Manly.

Has TMM returned to training? Neck surgery, depending on what it is, can take a fair while to recover from. Definitely need another half signed up, even if it is for depth.

If you’re him though, are you coming over to be backup? If he’s got something on the table at manly, he’d go there to be backup to DCE who only has limited time left in nrl. Boyd could back himself like perhaps Healey at dummy half and see an opening at halfback he could seize an opportunity?

If he came here it would be a big call but I think they would give him the Game one 7 jersey and TMM would miss out.
Remember TMM played cup the first 6 games of 2024 with SJ and Metcalf preferred over him.

Boyd would be horrible - c'mon guys, we're not that desperate.

The halves situation has to be addressed, sure, but show me the problem that Boyd is the answer to and I'll show you a club has 99 more ...

LM really wants the gig we know that ... not convinced ... but with SJ and SJ (two greats in the position) and Webby sitting in your backroom you'd hope there are a few other answers we're not seeing right now
