Probably the best decision for himself. An injury interupted season at this stage of his career. He could go again thinking things would turn around like 2023 but more likely it would be another year like this year.

The club probably needs him but better to make a decision on what's best for him.

It has been great having a star half on our books. He's provided some great highlights and made us a joy to watch. A shame the experienced player guiding the team around the field last year didn't last a few more seasons. Last year was the controlling half we were waiting for.

Let hope we don't go through a long period trying to find a halfback like we did after Jones retired.

Damn, this hurts. His body is clearly failing him but thought he might go around one more time. A real shame we don't have an heir apparent to fill the role. A similar young upstart who can turn a game. Sad.

Hopefully we can jag a couple more wins to see you out.
Enjoy retirement SJ, have thoroughly enjoyed watching you play.

What a slap in the face to the great Grant Rovelli.

Best of luck in retirement SJ, true Warriors legend.

I think you are a quality human being Shaun Johnson. Been my privilege to cheer you on. And even more pleased I went to the game last year against the Knights to cheer you on.
Hope you become a coach or some calling connected to the game.
Your candle may burn out this year but your legend never will to quote Elton John.

And let's hope he doesn't do what Jones did and try to come back a few years later...
I don't think it's right to say Stacey's 2009 comeback anything like ruined his legacy, but I feel it lowered it a bit.
Massive credit to Shaun. At least this way it's largely his call on the timing and he gets another few games. It would have been worse if he'd suffered an injury in a game and basically had to call time on his career the very next day.
