TMM to fb, taine to wing, cnk to 5/8, marata to start at second row. Host of changes.

Right, the CNK to half solves the mystery.

They're using the game to get them ready for injury enforced unexpected switches during the season.

File it under a training exercise for dealing with the unexpected for both players.

Like the changes but wondering why webster is doing these changes. Why name laban and demetric to start and bring in marata at last min? Demetric imo is a middle and shouldnt even be on the edge. Otherwise happy with the changes and gives us a chance to see cht at 5/8 with metcalf pairing and taine to solidify himself in the starting team, tmm gets an opportunity to show his broncos form at fb etc.
Totally agree with Demitric.
Smart of Webby to give Taine time on the wing as he should be playing there R1.
Mind games are annoying but.

Heard from an inside source. The same source that told me that LM/CHT were going to be the halves pairing to kick the season off - still TBC.. Also gave me info about TMM’s late season neck injury last year.
Does the move to fullback then give TT time on the wing and CHT at 6 …. Perhaps????
There you go , it was true.
If the LM/CHT combo works today , watch out USA.
If TT goes okay on the wing it’s his position too.

One thing the Webster crew do which I like is switch people around.

Last year we had Stacey as attack coach and Agars are defensive coach. This year we are told Agars is running the attack (which I like because the ESL system is strong on attacking structures from the pov of set plays and ball movement).

No surprise that the switcharoo is being used on the players too then, which I think is healthy, I think it speaks to a healthy culture where you cannot become territorial or entitled about your role in a team environment.

I especially like how this has meant Luke Metcalf has been given a real shot at his dream to play 7 in the NRL even though most would see with his running that he seems a natural six.

I think a new 7 will be here next year named Brown!
