NRL Round Discussion NRL Round 1, 2025 Discussion

Remember that year a few years ago where the top 6 or so teams pretty much beat the rest of the comp by like 20 points each game?

I think this years going to be like that.

5 or so great teams who are miles above the rest. Means we just need to be better than the rest, to make the 8
Did we make the 8 that year?

Early call but watching almost all of this first round, when I think about who we can beat ( ofcoursre Eels Storm is still to come)There’s only 4 or 5 teams we can actually get over the top of this year. The attacking intensity, speed and hunger of Canterbury St George, Tigers,Knights, Raiders and Dolphins - win or lose - was way more intense than what we put up in game one. Makes me get 12th and under vibes. They really are the teams we have to ice to make the finals. Can’t see it right now. #losingfaith 😵‍💫

Its good to have the NRL back, and watched some of the games this week so far.
Super worried about the Sea Eagles next week they seem to have a dominant pack, strong halves and speed and skill in the backline. Will be a long day in the office if we can't stifle their go forward and Olakau'atu is going to be an absolute handful on the edge.

This manly team is in trouble next week. They will be in danger of pulling a muscle from scoring too many tries and jogging back for kickoffs

Metcalf and Pompey will strain their ankles from all the kick offs

The Warriors should know very well what Manly will bring. With speed out wide, it’s the same strategy they will continue to play. Width is something they have always used against us and it’s always burnt us.

The Warriors will know what’s coming and to be honest, put your hand up if you think the entire weeks training and preparation will counter it!

They will role with the same strategy as always or they may do what the Raiders did to try something different by offloading at will and murdering us with with all their potency in strength and speed.

Godspeed.

Strategy is bait Jazz into running with the ball and stifle their backline attack, while dropping the ball every 3 carries, otherwise we’re doomed

Think keeping a healthy squad is going to be a big factor this year. I see sharks backup fullback Liam Ison looks like he’s done for the season picking up a serious injury. Now makes Kennedy important, with Hynes probably needing to shift to fullback if he picks up an injury

They’ll be better with the likes of Mitchell Moses returning and some speed out wide in JAC after serving his suspension, but this could become psychological. The sack Ryles thread has begun on eels forum already
I don't think moses or JAC are making there defense any better imo. Especially JAC. Volkmann has at least made some good tackles (pretty awful otherwise)

Ryles must be thinking the pay check is better in this box. But it would be a lot less stressful back in his old job. He wouldn't even be getting much of Bellamy yelling in his ear if he was in the other coaches box.

Nobody is reading this thread right now.
