A strange one is the perfect phrase to describe the saga between the Dragons and Hunt the last two years.

He was frustrated and wanted to leave and Flanagan talked him into staying. Then towards the end of the season there were the reports of Flanagan blaming Hunt for a lot of their woes and failure to make the finals. A coach yelling at a player after a loss isn't unusual. This did seem like it was a bit beyond that.

Then there is the quote from Flanagan that he doesn't have a problem.

Strange one indeed.

Sounds like things have well and truly broken down between Hunt and dragons. Sounds like just a matter of where Hunt will go, not when

Such a non event imo, but Flannos made it into a mountain.

Hunts obviously been asked about Gutho and has just said commented he'd be a good player in the halves. Because Flanno's son is the other half he's taken acception to Hunt's nothing comments and has made the situation into an issue.

Imo Flanno's blamed his highest profile player for their shit season, despite Hunt getting them into a position where they could even push for the finals.

Just mad really

It was the Dragons CEO that made Hunt stay in 2023, he was all but signed with the Titans until the CEO stepped in and said he's seeing out his contract

Sounds like Papenhuzyen is going to market, despite the Storm wanting to keep him. They've offered him about 750k, which is less than his current $1 mill a year.

I'm a bit torn about this. Yes, you're only a top professional athlete for so long and you'd want to make hay while the sun is shining, but jeeze I would have thought showing a bit of loyalty to the club after these massive injuries where he's been out for long stretches. He's played just over 40 games in the last 4 years, and only 92 in his 7 years in first grade...he'd be 28 through the first year of his new contract in 2026, way to big a risk to offer a big money long term contract to him imo

Going to be interesting to keep an eye on what happens there. Faalogo’s contract sounds like it has ramifications if Papenhuyzen stays, Pezet’s next contract has ramifications on their halves if he is to stay at Melbourne and Wishart attracting attention too

Said before the peak age for a player statistically is 26 with 24-28 the productive years.

The Storm are ruthless in dropping older players no matter how good they are.

Just another example. The Storm are the best team in the comp at matching pay to value.

Curious as to what position a RU hooker would play in Rugby League. Prop?

I mean, that would be the most logical way forward, they are genetically identical so you know he can get his body into the same shape as Leo lol, just a matter of getting it that point, then learning the game ofc

I do wonder when the last time we saw a Union forward code jump to League though, if ever??

As far as my rl watching life goes, it has all been backs, and on the occasion a League forward goes the other way, it has been to the centres (Burgess, Sonny)
