We got smashed in the final from memory and SBW returned to Rugby a year later.

I did like Buzz' suggestion that they play this game on the Friday before the GF. Although GF players wont be available it gives this game more exposure to the public.
Friday: All stars
Saturday: AFL GF
Sunday: NRL GF
Would be a good sports weekend.

I say keep it as a pre season game! Players have had a break and seem to be ready to play.
Glad the Maori All Stars won. Sometimes with the build up for this game and the placating from the Australian media the Maori Side are forgotten about.
There was a lot of good publicity after the game was held here. That seems to be forgotten about and we might get another game in a few years. Sure, the Australian time zone suits the viewing a lot better but if this game is as important as they talk about then they could work with the earlier time with a NZ based game.
On the scheduling which is gettng a lot of discussion. A day earlier during Grand Final weekend would be worth considering. Similar to how players get put into international squads they could get added at the end of the of the minor premiership and as they get eliminated. For some players it would push out when they join their international squads so there will always be logistics. But it does mean instead of waiting until the end of the weekend for the Grand Final day there would be a game earlier in the week.

Interesting that the Indigenous coach has come to Blairs defence, stating that one player they had asked a club about didn't even notify the player he was selected/wanted by the Indigenous team.
