Musk is intelligent, the world is full of intelligent people, the thing that got Musk where he is - is his persuasiveness. His ability to manipulate people is his hallmark and consistent with his personality traits.

Some people see Musk solve re usable Rockets and think that makes him a great man, but where is the pay off for humanity?

It has not helped that Venezuela has been under heavy sanctions by the US. This could be the start of another US 'peaceful incursion' to promote freedom and steal resources. That think tank is guided by the military industrial complex. You will find it hard to convince me that with their satellite and aerial assets, along with human intelligence the US knows exactly what is happening.
