Huh i thought he brushed off the offer because it was only 1 year. But damn he'll be 30 by the end of the season, so a 2 year contract i would of thought is not to bad of a deal. I understand this bit:

He has averaged almost 200 running metres and 20 carries a game since he came back to the Warriors, numbers which even exceed his massive Raiders output.

It’s not uncommon to see him take two and occasionally three carries in a set and at times last year, he looked almost physically broken at the end of matches, such was the effort put in. Super League is no stroll – as the European competition has a lot of games – but it is physically less intense.

He hasn't got the x-factor or the ball playing other fullbacks have, so he is playing a pretty hard role. Can see the appeal of a slower game for slightly better coin.

With the Warriors no doubt looking to lowball CNK on the back end of his career, I think this part is key...

the NRL salary cap ($12.5 million) dwarfs the Super League salary cap ($4.8m). But the Super League has provision for three marquee players per club, with a large proportion of those payments falling outside the cap, and Nicoll-Klokstad would be in that category.

with his workrate, he would be phenomenal in the super league. hasn’t got a lot of years left in him though.

I'm kind of in two minds with this extension. If he left we end up really short for quality backs depth. He is a solid player, passionate and good work ethic. On the other hand it's the same ol', same ol' yardage game. Doesn't provide much of a spark attacking wise. If we can integrate more xfactor across the park with Ali, Leka etc and get the halves to activate them, then maybe it's ok. Just can't help but feel it's a bit of a treading water signing rather than sinking or swimming.

I see where you’re coming from but he’s 29 - pretty much a few more years left at his peak, might as well do it here.

He wants to stay, has put this body on the line with those damaging runs and most importantly he’s loyal to the club. . I’m glad they’ve rewarded this loyalty with an extension.

I reckon with the amount of damage he puts his body through Webby needs to give him regular breaks and weeks off to recover and recharge both mentally and physically

He’s an old hand now with lots of experience. Needs to be a coach and positive mentor to the young ones

Treading water is far, far preferable to sinking.... Any near drowning victim will confirm that :ROFLMAO:
I'm pretty sure drowning victims aren't in a position to say much at all. What I meant by that was I think the club thought they could offer a shorter, lower or possibly both contract to him. When they realized he would go overseas we would either sink because of a lack of depth or we maybe were in the running for a good signing at FB which would help us swim - if so it's probably fallen through.

I do fear that AW will just lock him in at FB now for the next couple of years regardless.

I think this is the case. But both parties handled it like gentlemen and it worked out for everyone.

Webby is starting to show that "next man up" mentality we heard about, so I think the phase out will be planned. Hence its only 2 years. But lets hope he gets a second wind and he wouldnt be the first fb to do so, both Edwards and Tedesco fell in and out of form.
